Cloud my brain
with your thoughts. Her windows darkened every hour she led her eyes through the clear glass that squared around her view.
It had reminded her that it was almost time to go. The stars weren't sparkling yet, but the sun was slowly coming to asleep. The red sun settling low until the moon would come out.
Valerie was at work detaining herself like she did any other work day.
Occasionally it would cross her mind that she was a little obsessed with her job. It was the only thing she focused on the most.
Get up, get dressed, go to work and get your salary-that was her daily schedule.
It worked well for a certain amount of time. She didn't mind the loneliness, in fact she loved it. She had grown up to be anti-social and loved being that way. But things changed after a while. Everything seemed to not have a purpose anymore.
Val sat in her silenced office, rubbing her finger over her perfectly designed tattoo. She got it with her sister disobeying her mother for the first time.
Trying to think of some time to break, she clicked the home button to her phone and saw that it was 7:30 pm. Val wasn't surprised because she always stayed at work late even if she was aloud to leave at anytime since she was her own boss.
She scrolled through her phone and went to her messages just to see if she got a text message. A small piece of her hoped that someone did, but to her luck no one did. The last text she got was from Caleb her assistant letting her know that he was getting her coffee which was thirty minutes ago.
In the time of her waiting she decided on taking another patient in. His name was Greg and he had anger issues due to being abused by his father all through his life. During the session he talked about his week and how he did his daily countdown for him to calm down. She was proud of him knowing that that was a big step for him she could tell he was proud of himself too because how excited he was to share it with her.
Greg was thirty five years old, a little older then Valerie. She listened to Greg go on about how he handled his day and watched how his foot would bounce up and down every time he remembered something that occurred during the week.
It made her smile knowing that even if someone may seem damaged they still can be beautiful. At the end of the day even if it became boring at times it was worth it to see the beautiful outcome. That's how she looked at work-if it has a good purpose why not do it?
"Alright Greg, that's our time for the day," she glanced at her golden Michael Kors watch that was on her right wrist and closed the notebook she wrote all of Gregs notes in. She stood up from her chair and put her palm on his back leading him to her door.
"Now your next session is next Wednesday at five," she patted the middle of his back while walking him out of her office and into the main entrance hearing the secretary talking on the office phone.
Once Greg had said goodbye and made his way out of the building her assistant Caleb came in with her coffee she had been waiting for. "Here you go Miss. Mercado."
He handed her her coffee smiling hard so she wouldn't get on his ass for taking so long. "I even got you a muffin, it's chocolate your favorite." he held the Dunkin' Donuts bag up to her frowning face. She rolled her eyes and finally grabbed the hot coffee and the bag.
