"Be careful!" Andy called out to me. I turned and began to start walking backwards to my car. I began to answer when he started running towards me. I stopped, confused, and everything went black.
Andy's POV
I ran towards Rumor, but I didn't make it. Halfway across the lawn, I saw a large truck ram into her small frame. "No, no, no!" I shouted, and sped up. Rumor was thrown 15 feet into the asphalt. The driver didn't even stop to check if she was alright. My footsteps echoed into the night sky. I didn't notice CC and Jake behind me until one told the other to call 911, and they were greeted by a sarcastic remark. I checked Rumor's pulse, and sighed in relief. She was still alive. I scooped her head into my lap and stroked her hair while tears streamed down my face. Something felt strange, and I looked at my hand. Blood. "That fucker..." I murmured through tears. Jake put his hand on my shoulder and took Rumor's hand into his own. I kissed her forehead as sirens became louder and louder over the treetops. "It'll be okay, they're coming," I whispered to Rumor.
