Hi! ChocolateUnikitty here! This is my first ever story, so it may be a little off. I usually just read fan fiction not write it, but you know how it goes.... I want LOTS of feedback so I can improve this, and I have been daydreaming about Melody/Catgirl for a while now. I hope you like it! Tell me if I should continue!

I OWN NOTHING! (except Melody) Oh and italics are memories

My name is Melody Snow. I am 14 years old, and I have a secret. I am part cat. It all began when I was 2 and a half years old. I remember it like it was yesterday.

I was walking away from the movies I was seeing with my parents, when we were attacked. It was drizzling out, and we were taking a shortcut home through the poorer parts of Gotham.

"Hey Mel, did you like the movie?" my mother asks. I just nod in response, I was usually a quiet kid. I glance around after a few minutes of quiet walking, when I hear a grunt from the shadows.

"Hey, what's you doing on my turf?" came a rusty voice, as a scarred man steps out from the shadows.

"Le-Leave us alone!" My mother shouts as she and my dad step in front of me. I feel fear rushing through me, coursing through my veins, as I watch the scene unfold in front of me. I have been told countless times not to wander away from mommy or daddy because of all the dangers around Gotham.

More men pour from the shadows, and I can hear snippets of hushed conversations.

"Steal......Money.......Looks rich....." Flow into my ears at first, but then one word from the leader catches my attention.

"Kill"

My parents were shocked, and they were silent with fear, as not to to anger the gang . I barely noticed my parents slowly stepping away, until my mother trips over a can, discarded from a nearby dumpster. We freeze.

The vicious mens' heads snap our way, and out of the corner of my young eyes, I see a gun being raised.

"BANG!" The sharp noise echoes through the deserted alley, and I see my mother fall, red staining her clothes. "MOMMY!" I scream, tears threatening to fall. I knew what had happened. Even this young, all Gotham children had been educated in what happens in the dark city.

I barely hear my father shout my mother's name, as he tries to run over to my dying mother, and escape with me at the same time. "BANG!" Another shot rings out as my father drops dead, shot through the heart with deadly accuracy. I scream as loud as I could with my two year old lungs, but a rough, glove covered hand is shoved over my mouth. I am forced down into a sitting position on the dirty, slime covered ground of the alley. I feel the dirt beneath me, and sense the scurrying of rats in the dumpster nearby. My sense of touch has always been stronger than a normal humans, as had my eyesight, and smell.

"Quiet kid!" barked one of the gang members, and I look up from my sobbing to see the man who had shot my parents. I am filled with a rage that is like fire. Barely anyone has experienced the kind of rage I feel filling my two year old mind, and hopefully no one will ever have to. It is consuming my senses, and my heart is tearing in two, as I realize everything I have ever known has just come crashing down.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" I scream in my rage, fury, and despair. "SHUT UP!" the man restraining me roars, and I am roughly slapped across the face.

My head jerks to one side, and I am nearly knocked unconscious. As my vision swims in and out of darkness, I hear,

"The her with us, the boss needs someone like her to use." Then it all goes dark, and that fateful night comes to a close. Isn't it funny how life gets you when you least expect it?
