Chapter 10 - Flash

I blink. "No" I had suspected something like this might happen, but so what? My answer would always be no.

"No way!" "Have you lost it?!" "Uhhhhhh." "Grunt" came the chorus of replies from the team. While the team was arguing with their mentors, I tilted my head and sniffed the air. Hmmm, there's a draft coming from...... There! I glance at the team, still arguing, and make a run for it.

"Hey, she's getting away!" "She doesn't know where the exit is Baywatch!" I ignore them, and turn left, my heart is racing, I needed to get away from there! I hear them take pursuit as they figure out that, yes, I apparently do know where the nearest exit is. My feet make soft thuds on the ground as I race through stone hallways following the scent of fresh air. Hey, enhanced hearing, remember? 

I flick my ears, hearing resonating echoes sound through the halls, and my tail flicks behind me. There! I run out of the garage in the ground, finding myself on grass again. Yes! But..... Oh crap....... I'm on a flipping island surrounded by water!!! Augh!!!! 

"Oh crap........" I state, as the team runs out behind me. I turn and face them, going into a defense position, my claws up, my tail lashing, and hissing. "Hssssssss.....!" 

They face me, and start to advance, obviously set on dragging me back to the cave. No way.

"Come with us quietly, or we will have to use force." says Kid Flash. I smirk. He's trying to be professional. Pfffft, ridiculous. 

"Oh, shame!" I state sarcastically. I grin manically. It looks like they're having a mental conversation.... I give them a grin, then sprint around to the other side of the mountain. I hear them behind me, and crouch down, and leap. I go about 20 feet or so into the air, and I do a flip, with my tail streaming out behind me, before landing on the rocky cliff. I dig in my claws, and start scaling the ledge. I knew that this was the steepest part of the mountain, so that it would be harder for the team to follow me. 

I get to a flat up, vertical part of the cliff, and I have to jump to get up to the next part where I can get a grip. My highest jump has been 47 feet high, (with me on a sugar rush, of course.) because you know, I have cat like muscles and joints, so I can jump higher. My leg muscles can also absorbe Impact shocks when I land, so I don't shatter my leg bones or something like that. I turn around as I get to the top, and see the team way down below, just staring. Geez, do they ever flipping blink?! "Take a picture, it'll last longer!" I call down to them, and I can see the green archer, Artemis I think? Start getting really frustrated. With my awesome sleek leopard ears, I can hear Robin say to her,

"She has this effect on people, don't worry." That gets me ticked. "What effect?" I say, putting a hand over my heart pretending to be mock wounded. Kid Flash snorts. "Pfft, even my quips aren't as annoying." I scowl, but let it slide. I'll get back at him later...... I notice that they don't question how I can hear them from all the way up here, hmmmm how unobservant..... Oh well, here's where the real show starts.

There is only a thin sparse of land from the bottom of the mountain to the water facing where I am standing, so I plan to make my escape. Ugh, crap. This won't be pretty.  I take a few steps back, then sprint forwards and hurl myself off of the edge in a nosedive towards the water. My tail is streaming out behind, my, and I can feel the wind rushing through my ears. I can hear the teams shouts of alarm, and out of the corner of my eye I can see their shocked faces. All except Robin of course. He knows most of my talents. I hir the water, and I take a deep breath in. Yep, you heard me. I inhaled underwater. Ever since the experiment, wierd powers have been popping up, like when I almost drowned in the bay when Two Face accidentally hit me off the side, I inhaled water, and found out I could breathe. Don't ask me how. Ask physics.

I opened my eyes, taking in the blue scene. I angled my body down, and swam deeper, before heading out away from the island. I can swim fast too, like a little bit of water manipulation to make it boost me fowards. I just hated, absolutely hated how the water felt on my ears and tail. So, so sticky, and goopy, and bleargh...... 

I popped up to the surface, to see where I was, and I was about halfway back to the mainland. I was about to dive back under when something sharply yanked me up, and into someones arms. F**K!!! 

"Let me go!" I screeched, thrashing around in the arms of whoever the crap it was, hoping to do some serious damage with my claws, and teeth. I've bit an arm once on this person, and gave them about 6 deep scratches in various places, before I got a good look at them. 

I stilled as my eyes traveled up a red suit, with hints of yellow, and a lightning symbol in the middle of a circle on the chest. Oh. It was the Flash. And he was running in water. Back towards the cave. Shoot.

"I'm not going to ask how you were under that long, but I'll leave that to bats." He states. And I stay quiet for the rest of the run.

As we pull into the cave, my anger is rekindled. "Stop! Let me go! AUGH!" I shout as I thrash, making it harder for him to walk. I finally tumble out of his arms, onto the ground of the training room, and the team is there. "I should've just stayed under..." I mumbled. I liked my fangs, nervous. What was Batman going to do? My aunts and uncles, AKA the villains of Gotham have told me horrible stories of what Batman does to then when he catches them.

I slowly stand up, glaring at anyone who meets my gaze. F**k them. "What?" I snap.

"You will be staying here until we have deemed you trustworthy enough to have full access to the cave" a voice coming out of the shadows says. I gape. I need to get out of here. I can't stay! "N-no!" I say stuttering. Oh god I'm panicking. I take a step back as Kid Flash and Aqualad advance, and take me by the arms. "Let me go! I need to see Selina!" 

I use a new trick I learned to get out of their grasp. I shape shift. Into a snow leopard. They drop me in the shock of the moment, and as soon an I'm on the ground, I shift back. I hiss at them, and scramble up the walls again. Deja vu, am I right?

"I could have this place blown up." I say. "My aunts would love to kill some of you, and the same can be said for my uncles. Uncle J especially Bird Brain." Robin pales as he realizes who I'm talking about. I give a fanged grin. "Which one of you would go first? I bet they'll save the bird for last, but maybe blondie over there. Yeah, Auntie Ivy wants your head on a post for what you did to her plants a few weeks ago." Now they all have taken a step back. 

"They don't know where we are!" Kid Flash says, rather stupidly I like to think. 

"Oh, sorry, did I forget to tell you that with a push of this button I can transmit my location to them almost instantly? every. Single. Villain." I say, gesturing to a silver palette on my wrist.

They gasp. "Why did Bats let her be on the team?!?!" KF shouts. Then Batman walks in. "Because she is an asset to the team and you won't be able to complete your next mission without her." he says in his monotone/dead way. "And don't even try it Melody." he says. Of course i know that he know my identity, but bird brain doesn't. 

"Awwww, but Batsy....." I say, pouting, I lash out my whip, and it catches on a ledge on the ceiling, i swing from it to hand upside down above their heads. "Where's the fun in that, besides, you need to let me go, I have a job tonight." He scowls.

"Fine." The team gapes, and before I can find out what about this time, I cash out of there and swim to Gotham. Oh yeah, another one of my powers is I can come out of water completely dry, kind of like Percy Jackson. Oh well, gotta get home then to the club!
