2004 - Last day of school - End of year party
St. Patricks High School Common Room
Beautiful Contradictions
Sitting on the couch Marlene and Lily rambled on about nothing. Loud voices echoed from the midst of the Common Room corridors. Soon, Caleb Black, Ryan Hathaway and Aariana McKinnon emerged, both looking pumped up for the party.
Ryan Hathaway was another best friend part of Caleb, Aariana, and Aaron's circle. Caleb and Aariana were friends since childhood. Their friendship was strange. Caleb teased her non-stop, and Aariana always remarked back. Everyone besides Caleb himself knew that Aariana was in love with him."Hey Marlene, Lily". Aariana waved smiling.
Caleb grinned at the site of Marlene and Lily and took the liberty of jumping over the back of the couch and sitting right in the middle of them."Hello ladies:. He winked at them, throwing his arms around their shoulders.Marlene rolled her eyes and pushed Caleb's arms off of her. "Don't you have some other girls to torture?". Lily quietly watched the interaction."Eh, I've had my fun with them. Now it's just one-on-one personal time with my two favourite St. Patricks ladies" . he said with his usual smarmy grin. "Oh, I guess that would make it one-on-two"."Congratulations, you learned to count". Marlene drawled dryly. "Didn't know you had it in you, Black".
"Just learned the alphabet too, who knew there were 26 letters in the English alphabet?". Caleb responded, a smirk spreading across his face. He often found it was more amusing to play along then to fight back when it came to Marlene Fityus.
Ryan watched with amusement munching on his popcorn. The bickering of Caleb and Marlene was like daily entertainment, but off course nothing beats the arguments between Lily and Aaron."Everybody above the age of 5?"."I guess I'm just a slow learner. But wanna know what I would change about the alphabet?". Caleb said a sly smile creeping up on his face.
"No". Marlene rejected at the same time as Aariana spoke curiosity bubbling up inside her. "Yeah"."I put U & I together". Caleb suggested.Marlene rolled her eyes, as Aariana grimaced regretting her curiosity. Unable to stop herself Lily burst into laughter earning herself a glare from Marlene.
"Not funny". Marlene grumbled crossing her arms."Lilykins here doesn't agree to that doesn't she?". Caleb smirked. "Uh...oh look...I just remembered I have to get going...I have things to do...". Lily stuttered ending it with an awkward laugh.
Rushing away from the couch, Lily found herself on the balcony, looking over the lake.

"So, here's a question for you, with an outfit like that, who exactly are you trying to impress tonight?". Aaron asked propping himself next to Marlene."I'm trying to impress you, dahling". she joked in a fake sophisticated manner. "I'm always trying to impress you". Aaron snorted. "On Tuesday, you barged into our dorm wearing flannel boxers, and oversized T-shirt with the phrase 'Always open for business', and an arrow pointing down, and your hair thrown up into one of those messy buns, complaining that you had a zit on your nose".
Marlene paused. "And that didn't impress you?".They all laughed. "No, not particularly". he laughed. "So who's the lucky guy?". She snorted, shaking her head. Marlene was always close with Ryan, Aariana and Aaron, she had immediately hit it off with them when her parents had moved across from Aaron. For some odd reason she had despised Caleb with such a strong passion.
