PROLOGUE

The rickety Cheshire Middle School bus bounced along the road. While every other middle schooler busied themsleves with playing cards, gossiping, or doing homework, sixth grader Jacquelyn Monroe sat quitely and stared at the frost covered window. Her best friend, Melody Hudson, sat in the adjacent seat. Before an absolute quiet fell over the entire back of the bus, Melody shouted, "Hey, let's play truth or dare!" As every middle schooler joined in the game, Jacquelyn just continued to stare out the window, wondering why fate made her house the last stop on the bus route. After about 15 minutes, Melody moved closer to Jacquelyn and said, "Jacquelyn, truth or dare?" Seeing as she had nothing to lose, Jacquelyn replied with a reluctant "Dare...". "Alright," said Melody, evilly rubbing her hands togther, "I dare you to....kiss Harold Styles. ON. THE. LIPS." An echoing "OOOOOOOO" filled the back of the bus. Two eyes peeked out of a brown curly mess. The figure got up from his seat and sat next to Jacquelyn. Jacquelyn closed her eyes and moved her face towards Harold. Just before their lips touched, Harold whispered, "I want to be your last first kiss." Jacquelyn had no idea what he meant, so she just continued to kiss him. The eager middle schoolers cheered with delight. Harold moved back to his seat calmly. While the other kids talked to each other, Jacquelyn looked upon the frozen roads through the frosted window, and did not say anything the entire ride home.
