I stare over at the wall on the oposit side of the room, unable to sleep thoughts keep swirling around in my head a thousand miles an hour making my head throb. I try closing my eyes but the pain pulls at them from behind and I have to open them again and I shift onto my back, the floor creaks under my weight as I move and I look up to the bed to make sure I haven't woken my sister. She doesn't move and her breathing is even still asleep, good I look away from the bed, I would like to be up in the bed with Caroline but I can't or I guess won't not after what I did at the last house we were in. I had Almoast killed her in that fire because I was to damn reckless, now I understand "with great power comes great responsibility". I had thought practicing would prevent hurting her clearly that wasn't the case. So now I sleep on the floor it's hard and creaky but at least it doesn't smell of mold and pee like the bed does.
Last night had dragged on and with the long hours came more nausea. I hadn't slept at all and in the morning I watched the sun slowly rise up in the horizon throught the broken window across from the bed. As soon as the suns light hit the bed the sheets shuffled and my sister sat up, her long dark hair knotted and stand up on the top of her head. She looked over at me and met my eyes "you didn't sleep again did you?" She asked, though she already knew the answer. "No, I didn't" I answered her, my voice rough. I hadn't gotten much sleep for the last week since we came to this place and it was difficult to get around and gather food with little to no sleep.
My sister had forced me to get into the bed and stay there for the day to get some sleep. Sleep didn't come easy but eventually it came; it was uneasy and full of dark dreams and I didn't feel to much better when I woke up. Still I forced myself up and downstairs where my sister was sitting on the musty couch in the living room; the wallpaper was falling off and the carpet was nearly just mesh with a blood stain in middle of it. She looked looked up at me when an old floorboard creaked under my foot "did you sleep at all?" She asked me in a light voice. "A bit" I answered "I'm going to head out now"
"No you're not" She said Almoast mater of factly "And why is that?" I asked raising my voice a bit "I know your still to tired and weak and you don't want me to go". She was right about all of it but I was still going she couldn't stop me. "That might be tru-"
"It is true!" She cut me off and starred right at me, I starred right back. We stayed that way for a while until she looked away "fine... I now I'm not going to stop you"
"I'm sorry, but I have to" I said trying to make her understand. She didn't say anything so I just hugged her, grabbed my backpack and walked out the door
