Chapter 9: Anika’s POV

I felt like I was losing my mind in here, I had absolutely nothing to do but think, and that was the last thing I wanted to do. I scrubbed the room down the best I could with the toilet paper and water, but sense the toilet paper kept crumbling, it wasn’t an easy task. I braided my hair several times over, noticing how greasy it had become. I worked out for what felt like hours, doing push-ups, sit-ups and even ran in place. This was a prison.

I had laid down to take nap when a knock came from the door, I didn’t even bother answering. I knew they would just come right on in.

“It’s time for dinner Anika, you have to be good out here okay, if Malachi likes your behavior he said he’d let me give you a book to read so you have something to do. Do we have a deal?” He asked as he scanned around the room making sure everything was orderly.

I shook my head yes and then got off the bed following him out the door. The set up was weird and was the only thing I have seen besides the room for which seemed like a week, although I knew it hadn’t even been a day. There were three other rooms besides the one I came out of and at the end of the hall lay a wide open space, were there was a table with the man sitting at front and three other girls sitting around the table. I hesitated going over there but Ryan urged me with his eyes so I followed. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the other three girls. They all looked like me, they all fricking looked like me! We all had brown hair with hazel eyes and were of average height, we were all slender and wearing the same outfit. This was not happening.

“Hello Anika, I’m glad you could finally join us, please sit and enjoy this delicious roast Ryan prepared for us.” Malachi said as he nodded at the chair next to one of the girls. I sat down and looked at all of their faces. They all had blank expressions and wouldn’t even make eye contact with me as we ate.

Why won’t they say anything?

How can they just take this?

I went to go say something aloud when I remembered what Ryan had said and I knew the only way for me to keep my state of mind was to have something more to do in that room. I shoveled down the food as quickly as possible and then sat patiently waiting to know what was next. When Malachi noticed that my plate was completely empty he just looked at me and smiled widely and then nodded. I creased my eyebrows back in confusion until Ryan looked at me and told me that meant I could go back to my room. I moved as fast as I possibly could, hitting my leg on the corner of the table in the process, the pain shot threw my body but I didn’t want to draw attention to myself so I just kept on moving. Once at my room I ran in, slamming the door behind me and jumped onto the bed. Just as I had started to fall asleep I heard the door lock behind me, and the tears came once more.
