Chapter 15: Loris POV

The next day, the day after the police officer had given me the news, I rushed over to the station as soon as I had awoken. Sad eyes stared at me as I walked through the doors, they all knew, hell the whole town knew. I walked straight ahead, back to the office of Officer Craigen and tried to ignore the staring faces as well as I possibly could. I hadn’t been to work sense I found out she was taken and when I saw my Captain sitting in the room along with Craigen, my heart jumped. I opened the door slowly, and peered in through the small opening, wondering if I had disturbed something.

“Come on in Lori.” Craigen said, pointing to the chair next to my Captain. “Mr. Jones here was just telling me he would like to assist on this case in any way possible.” He said this as I assumed he only offered to after they became aware that my daughter fit a kidnapping profile. Why else would he care, he hadn’t even bothered to call sense it happened.

I sat down and stared at Jones waiting for him to say something, anything at all. Otherwise he could just leave.

“Hi Lori, how have you been?” he asked plastering a fake smile across his face.

“Can we just cut to the chase?” I asked rudely “I would like to know what’s going on with everything.”

“Well Jones and I have been looking deep into these previous cases and realized a pattern.” As Craigen said this I raised my eyebrows in anticipation, while tapping my legs up and down.

“It seems that every time a girl goes missing, a man and his son move into town shortly before hand. The names are never quite the same but have resemblance and previous witnesses have described them, and the description is the same in all locations.”

“So you think these are the ones who took Anika?” I asked as tears started forming in my eyes.

“Yes, possibly but this is just a lead. The facial aging device allowed us to get an idea of what the kid may look like, but other than that it’s going to take some digging.” Even though Craigen seemed reluctant as he said this, this news was good news to me. Any step closer was a giant step in my book. My only goal was getting her home.

*I know Lori's chapters are short, and many of you may not like her POV's but her chapters help to build up the story line.
