"Welcome to a world of wonder!" Professor Birch cheered as she lead her little students out of the little school and down the beautiful beach of the Verona region. Her smile beamed with excitement behind her two big bangs of hair. "As you all know, humans and pokemon live side by side to overcome each other's obstacles and enjoy the world that they inhabit. Whether it be in the deepest of seas, the darkest of caves, the hottest of volcanoes, or the driest of deserts, these pokemon can be found everywhere!

"In the many centuries humans and pokemon existed, the two species have developed a special relationship. Can anyone tell me what it's called?"
A little girl raised her hand. "Symbiotic!"
"Precisely! Now can you explain how?"
"Some pokemon live as pets, like my mama's snubbull, Jeff."
Another student chimed in, "Others assist in the advances of research or creation."
"But most importantly, they team up for battle!" Another boy added.
"But why do they do that?" Another little girl asked. "Why do they live with us?"
"Well," Professor Birch began. What pokemon trainers do is pretty self explanatory. They capture and train pokemon to compete in competitive battle. As to why pokemon allow this, to be captured? That's because many pokemon want to be captured for the purpose of adventure and/or to become stronger. Once a trainer retires, the Pokemon are usually released and return to their natural habitat. Stronger and better able to protect their families, these pokemon are usually not caught again unless they want to be caught."
The children looked at the professor in wonder as she continued to teach. She noted the various pokemon that would occasionally pop up nearby. An elegant dragonair swimming along the beach. A fidgety krabby bathing in the sun. Curious wingull pecking through the hot glittering sand for shiny objects. They couldn't wait to grow up and become official pokemon trainers.
Professor Birch looked into the distance and saw some familiar figures. A perfect learning opportunity! She looked toward her class and asked "So, do we have any aspiring pokemon champions in the class?"
Most of the boys raised their hands as well as half the girls.
"How many of you have seen a battle in person?"
All the hands went down. Her eyes dazzled.
"In that case, would you like to change that?"
