When Rain Falls ~ Chapter 12

A/N: HEYY GUYS? how have you been? Happy Holidays! Enjoy Chappie 12, nothing much happens just the auction! But I think you guys will like the next two chapters ;)

Recap Chapter 11:

"So what's this Winter Ball thing?" she asks, about 15 minutes later in to the conversation.

"It's just a school dance. Actually the date actions today at 4:00, you should sign up. I already did!" Leah said.

"Oh shit! I forgot about that! I'll see you guys at the auction, I have to go," I looked at the clock, "come with me Gigi," I said, quickly grabbing her arm. I had 10 minutes before the bell rang, and I needed to find Luke. 

Chapter 12

"Heyyyy Lukeeyy," I said, widening my eyes with a pleading look plastered on my face. A smile appeared on his face,

"What do you want?" he smiled, knowing me all to well.

"I was wondering if I could borrow your car…I forgot the some papers for the dance auction today," I asked, pausing to hear his reply. His smile widened.

"and…what do I get for my deed of the day?"

"um…. What do you want?" I asked.

"A date to Winter Ball," he said casually,

"Well, I think that's do-able," I lit up on the inside, but I "casually" said back.

"Yes. Yes I am," he beamed, holding out his keys for me. I lightly slapped his arm, and grabbed the keys.

"Well, your going to have to buy me first," I laughed

"Sure," her replied. With that I turned around and headed for the cafeteria door.

"Shit! Wait," I said, running back to grab Gigi, "I almost forgot, Gigi this is Luke, Luke this is Gigi. She's new here, so try not scare her."

"Hey," Luke nodded.

"Hey," she replied, shyly.

"We gotta stop by the office," I said to Gigi, "we are going to sign you up."

"For what?" she asked.

"The auction!" I said, tugging her along.

            "Hello Students! Whose ready to buy some dates?"  Dr. Madreno shouted in to the microphone. "Remember those who buy a date, will contribute their money for charity! Okay, lets get this started, shall we!?" The lights inside the pavilion lighted the makeshift runway. 

        "First up, we have Leah!" Leah strutted down runway, flipping her brown hair and giving a flirty wink to no one in particular. She went for $40 dollars to Rick, a brown-eyed soccer player.

            "Next we have the lovely, Ms. Kelsey Foster!" Kelsey popped out through the curtain and strutted down the runway just like Leah did. Except she gave a wink out to Josh Colman.

            "20," Josh yelled. 

            "40!" A slightly nerdy boy called out, he was wearing a t-shirt with her face on it. Wide-eyed Kelsey shot a look to Josh, expecting him to fork up some more money to buy her. He gave her a shrug and cross his arms playfully. She returned with her trademark glare, and sulked back. Eleven more girls, and 6 guys participated in the auction before Dr. Medrano called me up.

            "Next we have Isa!" I walked out, making sure to make eye contact with Luke.

            "30!" he called out.

            "35!" I spun my head to the side, and saw Jason with his hand up. I frantically looked back to Luke and saw his hands ball up in to fists. 

            "40!" He shouted. The heads in the crowd were moving side to side between the two guys.

            "45!" Jason shouted back. 

            Not wanting Luke to spend any more money on me, I shouted, "50!"

Everyone in the crowd turned up to look at me in surprise. Jason's eyes shot up to meet mine, wide-eyed.

            "55!" Jason shouted back.

            "60!" I shouted back. Jason smirked in acknowledgement and conceded to the back of the room.

            Dr. Medrano appeared on the stage next to me, "Um…well…okay. Sold! To herself!" I smiled at her and walked off the stage. I had just dodged that bullet. "Next up we have a last minute addition to our list, she is new here, so please welcome up, Giselle!" When no one appeared through the curtains, I peeked behind to find Gigi sitting on the step.

            "What's wrong?"

            "No on will buy me," she said staring at the floor, "no one knows me."

            "C'mon," I said, grabbing her arm before she could say no. I appeared back on the runway with Gigi this time and strutted with her to the end. As I was walking, I looked at Luke and slightly tilted my head toward Gigi with a begging look.

            "20!" Luke shouted. I smiled at him gratefully, although a pang on disappointment also rang in me. Well… If he was Gigi's date, he couldn't be mine…

            "30!" a hand shout up in the back. I didn't know the guy, but he was cute. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a slow smile of recognition lurk on to Gigi's face.

            "Sold!" Dr. Medrano said in to the microphone. "Thank you everybody for all your donations! See you all at school tomorrow!"

            Everyone rushed out of the gymnasium, as I grabbed by bags to walk home. It was a 30 minute walk but I liked it. It gave me a moment to myself. I dialed Trish's number from work.

            "Hey, Trish?"

            "Yup, What's up, Isa?" She replied.

            "I was wondering if you could cover for me this Friday, I have something to do…"

            "Sure, but can you cover for me tonight? I was going to ask somebody else, but we can just trade some shifts for this week. It's at 6:00."

            "Of course, that sounds great. Thanks!"

            "No, Thank you! I'll talk to you later Isa,"

            "Bye!" I hung up the phone, and untwisted my headphones from my iPod.

I was stepping out of the gym when I felt a warm hand grab my shoulder.

            "Going stag to the dance?" Jason's voice came from behind me.

            "No, I just didn't want to go with you," I said, shrugging off his hand

    "Oh come on, I'm not so bad," he said, taking a step closer, those midnight eyes piercing in to mine. I felt dazed and numb, I stood motionless, feeling slightly parallized.

            "Is there a problem here?" Luke showed up behind me. Standing defensively beside me. 

            "No, not at all. I'll see you later, Isa," Jason winked at me, as he turned around. 

            "I really hope you don't," I said loud enough for him to hear. I shook my head, this had to do with that dream I had the other night. 

            "Ready to go home?" he asked, pulling his angry glare away from Jason's back. 

            "No practice today?" I questioned. 

            "No, not today. I want to take you somewhere," he said grabbing my hand. 

            "Okay," I smiled, following his lead.
