--about three months later--

~Kaoru's POV~

"Okay, that's it."

"What's it?"

"Today. Today you've got to tell her! No holding back, no chickening out, no lying. Just do it, Kaoru."

I sighed. "But, Hikaru, what if she turns me down?"

"That's what you've been asking yourself for the past three months now. You were already supposed to tell her over the rest of the summer, but you cowered away and, of course, didn't tell her!" Hikaru said.

I huffed. "Come on, give me a break! The first day back at school isn't until tomorrow! We still have one more day of summer. Plus, I can tell her any time!" I said. Hikaru glared at me.

He continued as if I hadn't said anything. "At this point, it doesn't matter if you're scared of asking her! Trust me when I say you need to tell her now. If you don't, I guarantee someone else is gonna come along, take an interest in her, and steal her away from you before you even had the chance to tell her how you feel! And it'll be all your fault because you didn't just suck it up and tell her!"

I nodded. "You're right. You're right! If I don't act now, someone else will; and just like that, she'll be taken," I said. "Fine. I'll tell her."

"Today. Call her."

"Yes, Hikaru, today. Happy?"

Hikaru eyed me. "I won't be until the two of you are dating." he said simply.

"Don't get my hopes up! I don't even know if she likes me back!" I said.

"She kissed you, though..."

"Yeah, on the cheek."

"So? It's a kiss all the same. If she kissed you, she obviously likes you."

"Um, hello...! It could've been just a friendly gesture!"

"Uh huh, sure. Okay. Whatever you say, Kaoru. My real point is, you gotta tell her now! And if you won't, I will."

~Third Person POV~

Tamaki knocked on the front door. He and the rest of the Host Club stood outside the apartment.

Haruhi's apartment.

"Haruhi~! Come out and play!" they said together.

"Haruhi! I am so not in this...! They dragged me out of my house! I'm here against my will!" Arabella shouted through the door.

The door opened.

It didn't reveal Haruhi, but Ranka (Haruhi's father) instead.

Ranka's appearance was the appearance of someone that had just gotten up out of bed.

The Host Club's eyes widened.

"W-We have the wrong door...!" Tamaki said before he moved them along.

"Actually--" Arabella started, but she was cut off.

"Wait, wait, hold it!" Ranka pulled the Host Club in his apartment space and closed the door.

"Now, don't go acting all 'Oops! We just saw the tranny without his makeup on, which is something we weren't supposed to see'. Even I have a bit of a beard when I've just woken up." Ranka said.
