Back in New York, Izzy had her first contraction.
-Call 911, yelled Simon to Clary.
He was transporting her into the flashy banana Van he still had after all these years.
-No, said Izzy weakly. Not in the banana car. I don't trust it.
-Oh, come on!
Simon insisted.
-It's totally fine!
-Simon, it broke down last week.
Simon protested.
But Izzy wouldn't break.
-Okay, call a cab, yelled Simon at Clary, again.
Clary ran and called a cab.
-It will be here in fifteen minutes, she yelled back at Simon.
Simon shook his head.
-Oh, it will be too late. Come on, help me put her in the car.
Izzy tried to resist, but she wasn't strong enough. After all, a baby was coming out of her!
Simon put her fiancé in the car. Clary sat next to her and Simon drove to a nearby hospital.Jace's pov
Jace sat next to his kids. Amy and Stephen were clones of their parents. The little girl, as small as her mother, had red hair and golden eyes and the little boy had golden hair and green eyes. He almost looked more like Jonathan than Jace, his own father.
Amy was playing with her Shadowhunter Barbie and Stephen with his little figurine. Max's figurine.
"I'm so stupid", though Jace."I keep thinking about him for all these years. He's dead, accept it."
Jace's eyes filled with tears.
"Wow, now I'm making myself cry."Jace scoffed. "Stupid. Stupid.", he said, while shaking his head.
But still, there was a little voice in the back of his head that kept saying: "But his assassin isn't dead. What you gonna do about that?"
Stephen interrupted his black thoughts.
-Daddy, why can't I have more of these figurines? My Hunter can't save anyone if there isn't anyone to save.
He had this look, like everyone was inferior. He got that from his father. And Sebastian. "He isn't even directly related to him!", he thought.
-Um... Yeah, sorry Stephen. This figurine is really old. There isn't more of them. Play with your sister's Barbies.
-I don't want to. They're girls.
-Yeah, well, some day you're going to marry one, he said wisely. Understand it and go play. I have to go... Do stuff.
-'Kay.
Jace hugged his kids and went to Clary's bedroom. Her wife chose the room that was the closest to the green house.
He knocked, without an answer.
-Clare?
He went in, remembering it's kinda his bedroom too. Her room walls were all white, except for one, that was grey. She had a green bed cover with a lonely grey star in the top right corner. Several photos were hung up just on top of the bed.
-Where is she, he asked himself. Alec! Izzy! Vamp... Simon!
He got out his phone and called his parabataï.
-Hey, where are you?
-Hello to you too. You know, you got to start saying "hi". It's like the second time in...
-Yeah, yeah. Where are you?
-Well, in the hospital. Didn't you heard?
-Well, no, or I would be there with you. Why are you there?
-Izzy is having her first contraction. Dr.Loss says it might take a while before she has the babies. She's not dilated enough. She's...
-Woah, too much information. I'm coming.
-Wait, what about the kid?
-He's not even born yet. What about him?
-Not that baby. I mean Max. Is he okay?
-I think he's in his room. Hey, while we are on the kid subject, what will we do about the werewolf?
-Kole? I think we should discuss it with the Clave.
-Oh yeah, the Clave. I forgot I was talking the number one fan of the Clave. Alec, think. If we tell the Clave, Kole will tell them the pact we made with him. We're dead. We don't tell the Clave, they might find out by themselves and we're dead.
-Yeah, that's a problem.
-Yeah. I'm going to check on Kole and I'm coming.
-Okay.
-Bye.
Jace closed his phone. He went in the direction he usually used to go to the music room. But, instead of going right at the end of the corridor to go to an other corridor, where the music room was, he went left. Jace continued and passed one, two, three, four rooms. He pushed open a big black door with a fruit painting on.
While descending the rocky and slipy stairs, Jace got out his stele. He draw a luminous rune, an invention of Clary's.
Once at the end of the stairs, Jace took out his stele again and draw on the third wall another rune; the rune to unlock secret doors( again, Clary's invention). Because, of course, the special prisoner wasn't in a normal dungeon. He was in the secret dungeon. The Circle could get in the Institute one time; they could get in a second time.
Once the door open, Jace knocked five times on the second door, took a pause, then knocked twice again. He looked at the big door while it opened itself. It had seven locks.
Finally, Jace had to watch out on where he put his feet; there were some tiles on the floor that when you put your foot on it, it exploded. Like mines.
He opened the last door. The prisoner looked at Jace.
-Jace. I expected you. So, when are you going to tell Clary you're keeping me prisoner?
Jace looked at Jonathan with an icy look.
-Shut up, Sebastian. Demons don't get to talk.
-I already told you! Don't call me Sebastian, he yelled. And I'm no demon.
Jace opened his mouth to reply, but Jonathan interrupted him.
-Before you say anything, look at the situation. You've been keeping me prisoner since Idris now, and you've told no one. You come in here nearly everyday, and I bet you ask yourself if killing me is a good idea. Then, you realize that I'm Clary's brother, even if I killed your half brother, Max. Now, look at that situation and think, really. Am I the demon? Or is it you?
