To Tracy, the one who never gave up on me.
KRISA'S POV
I made the worst shot ever. There’s always good news and bad news. Good news: Karl’s gone. Bad news: He’s coming back and we can’t attend the practice all beaten up and bloody. We all went straight to the clinic. Good thing that nurse was there. Of course the bad thing was that our shirts are covered with blood. That made it worse. Nurse Karen cured us all. She bandaged Bruce’s scar on his face, covered Val’s huge cut on his arm, cured Nicole’s burnt skin and applied cream in most of my wounds.
“Ok, you’re all, ready. But there’s a problem.” Nurse Karen said while looking on our shirts.
“Our clothes are the problem.” Bruce said.
“Yes. Teacher Liezel doesn’t want her students to be bloody.”
“We can use it as props for the dance!” Nicole said. “In fact, we’re all wearing white and white is recommended for the dance.”
“You know what,” I said to Nicole. “Your idea’s just fine.”
“You’re the best Nicole!” Val said and gave her a huge hug.
“Okay, enough with the love things.” Nurse Karen put in. “Why don’t you all just run along and attend your practice.”
She was right. We should attend the practice all the time we’ve been fighting with Karl. Then, I had the courage to ask nurse something.
“Nurse, what time is it?” I asked.
“Why, about 11:30 I guess.”
“11:30,” Nicole shrieked. “We’ve been late for-”
“Why won’t you four just run along now,” Nurse Karen said.
“On it,” Bruce said.
“Thank you, nurse!” We all said and left the clinic.
“Hey, it’s lunch already.” Val said.
“Yes.” Bruce said. “Hey guys, want to go to the house?”
“Awesome.”
“We’ll go, if it’s allowed” I said.
“You’re all allowed.” Bruce said.
“Let’s go then.” Nicole said.
We headed towards the gate and their van was there. We went inside and they talked about the practice that they didn’t attend. I was just staring at my laptop, making a different story. When they’re trying to talk to me, the conversation went something like this:
a.) Bruce’s conversation
Bruce: “Hey, are you hungry?”
Me: “Not much.”
Bruce: “We’re almost there.”
Me: “Um, no we’re not. We still need to turn around the whole one-way. Plus, it’s traffic.”
Bruce: “Even when you’re not paying attention, why are you good at this?”
Me: “Because when I grew up in Manila, I pay attention in traffics and I know how to detect traffics.”
Bruce: “Oh, OK.”
b.) Nicole’s conversation
Nicole: “Are you still searching things in the internet?”
Me: “Shut up.”
c.) Val’s conversation
Val: “Kristina,”
