Song: My Heroine by The Maine
Lila
After the guys worked for a few more hours, they finally decided to pack it up for the night and I headed to the car with Ben and Danny. Ben had told me the two had moved into a flat together shortly after we had stopped talking. "Do you want to stop at your place to grab some clothes and stuff?" Ben asked, glancing over at me as he pulled out of his parking spot.
"Nah, I don't wanna have to see Kelsey," I responded, shaking my head.
"You sure? I know you're gonna freak out tomorrow when you can't do your makeup and stuff," he insisted. He was right. While I wasn't a huge makeup person, I did feel the need to do a little bit of enhancement to my look every morning. I wasn't sure what was worse: looking like shit tomorrow and having to see Kelsey. I looked back over at him with a torn expression. "How about I go in and grab what you need? I don't partially care that she hates me," he suggested.
"You don't mind?" I asked, breathing out a sigh of relief. He was honestly the best boyfriend I could ask for no matter what everyone else said.
"Wait, can I go in and get your stuff, Lila? I wanna meet your hot friend," Danny interrupted hopefully. He stuck his head between our two seats and gave us a grin.
I let out a chuckle. I knew Kelsey would never go for him, but it was kind of funny to see him try. "Sure," I agreed, smiling back at him. I then gave him a quick run down of what I needed from my room.
Soon, we pulled up to my flat building and Ben found a parking spot. I handed Danny my key to the flat and he got out with an excited smile plastered on his face. "I'm sure Kelsey is gonna love Danny just showing up at her flat," Ben joked. I could just imagine the look on her face when she saw Danny going through my things.
"You think we'll be able to hear her screams from here?" I asked jokingly. The images of Danny and Kelsey that were running through my head made me burst out laughing. It was even funnier that Danny thought he had a chance with Kelsey.
Within minutes, Ben had started laughing, too. Like they say, laughter is contagious and before we knew it, we were laughing hysterically and clutching our stomachs. It reminded me of the times when we were younger that we spent laughing at Danny's terrible behavior.
All of a sudden, though, I could hear Ben's phone vibrating in his pocket. He was laughing so hard that he could barely pull it out of this skinny jeans. By the time the bright screen was in his hands, he had calmed down a bit. Whoever was trying to ring him, though, made him calm down even more. His face took on an expression of disgust, similarly to the one it had had at the studio when he had gotten a call then.
"Who's that?" I asked curiously. I wasn't trying to be nosey, but it seemed like every time his phone went off he got upset and I wanted to make sure everything was ok. If we were in a relationship, we shouldn't be keeping secrets.
"Uh, I think some fan got my number or something because I keep, uh, getting calls from the same number," he stammered. It was obviously a lie. I wanted to know who this person was that kept bothering him, but I guess he would tell me if he wanted to.
"Oh, ok," was all I replied with. I then turned my attention to the windshield and started looking for Danny.
Ben
I didn't want to lie to Lila, but I didn't want her to worry. I had a reputation of being a player and sleeping around. I didn't want her to think I was still interested in Erica because I wasn't. She was a clingy bitch who I wanted nothing to do with. How did I explain that to my girlfriend, though? She would probably assume the worse if I told her that there was some girl in the United States who was obsessed with me. Knowing Lila, she would worry if I told her about Erica and there was nothing to worry about. I was in love with Lila and not Erica.
Soon, Danny came into our sight. He was carry a duffle bag that Lila had told him to get and had a huge grin on his face. He strolled up to our car, pulled the door open, and jumped in. "You have one hot friend, Lila," he told her happily.
"She actually showed interest in you?" Lila questioned in shock. She turned in her seat to look at our friend. I wanted to hear about what had happened, but I couldn't get my mind off of the fact that I had lied to Lila.
"Well, no. I don't think she realized I was there, but she was getting dressed and she totally just left her bedroom door open," he clarified. Lila put her head in her hands. It was obvious that she still cared about Kelsey even though she was pissed at her.
"You're such a perv," she responded, sounding pretty annoyed. Lila was such a good, by-the-book type of person. How the hell did she end up with me?
"I know I am, darling," Danny told her with a wink. I just shook my head at him. It didn't really matter too much considering Kelsey would never know she was being watched by some guy she didn't know. Also, I would probably do the same thing, so I couldn't really reprimand him.
The rest of the drive was filled with the sounds of the music coming out of the car speakers. I just couldn't seem to get my guilt off of my mind. I knew I shouldn't lie to Lila. I loved her and I valued our relationship, which meant I should be completely honest about everything with her. That was just a lot easier said than done.
