Song: Animal by The Cab

I had the day off from work fortunately. Kelsey didn’t though, so I was alone in our flat and I was completely bored. I still had to tell Daniel that I was breaking up with him. It was a conversation I was dreading, though. I really did care about him. I just wasn’t in love with him anymore, but how did I explain that to him? Also, how did I break the news that I was leaving him for someone else; someone who had just come back into my life about a week ago?

I let out a sigh as my phone lit up on the brown couch next to me. When I looked over, I saw Ben’s smiling face staring up at me. I immediately hit the green ‘answer’ button and held the phone up to my ear.

“Hey, Ben,” I greeted happily. It had only been a day since we had confessed our feeling for each other and I had really hoped he would call or I would work up the nerve to call him. I wasn’t really the type of person to make the first move.

“Hey, Lils. Where do you live?” he asked. I was surprised he even included niceties such as a ‘hey,’ before jumping to his mission. When Daniel had said Ben seemed like a ‘wanker,’ he had been right in the manners department. None of them possessed anything resembling manners and I wasn’t even sure if ‘please’ was in there vocabulary, but that was kind of what I always used to like about them. They kept life interesting even if that meant offending some people along the way.

“Why?” I asked after giving him my address, my brow furrowing in confusion even though he couldn’t see me. I was really hoping he would say he wanted to come over or was going to pick me up or something. I really just wanted to spend time with him.

“I’m coming over,” he replied as if to say ‘duh.’ It was kind of funny how before a few days ago it had been years since we and seen each other and now we were trying to see each other as much as possible.

It wasn’t long after we hung up that there was a knock on the flat door. I practically sprinted to get it. As soon as I had the door open, his lips collided with mine. He barely stopped to make sure it was me that he was kissing. His lips felt so perfect against mine as our mouths moved in sync. It never felt this good with Daniel. Now, kissing him always felt forced when I knew it shouldn’t. He was more boyfriend, so I should’ve been overjoyed every time we kissed, but I felt the exact opposite. When Daniel’s lips were on mine, I just wanted the moment to end.

“Well, hello to you, too,” I joked when I backed away reluctantly from the heat of the kiss. He gave me a cheeky grin as I stepped aside to let him inside my flat.

“Are you complaining?” he questioned, obviously already knowing the answer. I quickly shook my head, but he was no longer looking at me. He was taking in the small flat. His eyes darted from the couch to the telly to the kitchen to the small table to the hallway that led to the bedrooms and bathroom. “You live here with Daniel?” he questioned, sounding about agitated, as he saw a picture of me and him on one of the end tables.

I fiercely shook my head. “No. My friend Kelsey lives here with me. You never met her,” I answered. I could just imagine the nightmare my life would be if I had to live with Daniel; wake up next to him; eat breakfast with him; be with him all the time.

“Good,” he told me with a sigh of relief. “So, do you have the day off from work?” he questioned before plopping down on the couch. I more elegantly took a seat next to him. From the outside, we made a weird couple. We had always been an odd pairing even for friends. He was loud and obnoxious while I was shy and quiet most of the time. My teachers in high school had always been surprised to find out that my best friend was one of the students they dreaded finding on their rosters.

“Yep, but Kelsey had to work, so we’ll have a few hours alone,” I replied. I hadn’t meant the comment to be sexual, but of course it earned an eyebrows raise from Ben. My cheeks quickly became hot at the thought. I had only even had sex with Daniel and it had been awhile. From what I had read on Tumblr and various other websites, Ben had gotten around while he was on tour, if you know what I mean.

With that, he neared me, getting so close that our noses were practically touching. “So, that means we can do this?” he questioned before locking his lips back on mine. The feeling of pure ecstasy once again entered my body. He was like a drug I was already addicted to after only two uses, but I had no intention of going to rehab.

Instead of pulling away from his lips, I kiss back like my life depended on it. My fingers tangled in his hair messy brown and he bit my lower lip seductively. The action produced a moan from my mouth and he took his opportunity to slide his tongue into my mouth. I could feel the cool metal of his spider bites against my skin and lips and it felt so good. He pushed me against the couch and then his hands slipped under my t-shirt. They climbed my bare skin until they found their destination and went to work. The whole experience had me just wanting him so bad. I hadn’t felt this way in so long. There was a smile twitching at my lips, which were still pressed against his. I never felt so elated when kissing before this. Everything felt so…right. It felt like I was suppose to be kissing him; like I needed to be kissing him.

Unfortunately, there was a knock at the door, which caused us to pull apart. I let out a disappointed sigh and ran my fingers through my hair in an attempt to tame my now wild hair. My lips still buzzed from the amazing kisses I had just shared with the man of my dream. Some would say I had low standards since Ben was the ‘man of my dreams,’ but I seriously never wanted to be with anyone else. I had a taste and now I needed more. When I pulled the door open, a grin still set on my now swollen lips, I saw the last person I ever wanted to see: Daniel.
