"dad? mum?" i mumbled. it was the middle of dinner, and after two days of thinking, i'd decided to come out to my parents. i had come out to my friends yesterday and both of them were very accepting. i wasn't surprised, since chris had come out as bisexual last year and pj and i just brushed it off, as nonchalant as if he'd just told us what his favourite colour was. there were no problems.

"yes, daniel?" mum said, between forkfuls of food. i coughed and put my fork down, and this attracted the attention of my parents, and they shared an apprehensive glance.

"um, i wanted to tell you that i'm.." my mouth suddenly went dry and my eyes flashed towards my parents, and i quickly took a drink of water. as i put down my glass, my hands were shaking.

i ran a hand through my fringe, and took a shaky breath in, staring at my plate.

"i'm bisexual."

there was nothing but silence for a few seconds, then chairs scraping against the floor.

i looked up just in time to see my dad slam the front door, and my mum leaving the room, turning briefly to flash me a disappointed look and say "i want you out by 10am tomorrow morning."

i ran upstairs, and when i looked out my window i saw both of their cars gone.

i sighed and texted chris and pj.
