I walked out into the brisk night air. Well technically it was morning air since it was past one in the morning. I had no idea what he was doing here at this time but I didn't waste time in finding out.
As I approached him, Tyler's head snapped up and a huge smile lit his face. It wasn't until I was right in front of him that I understood what he was doing here at nearly two in the morning. I wrinkled my nose.
"You're drunk." It wasn't a question, it was statement. By the smell of him he had had more than a few beers.
He chuckled and grabbed at my waist pulling me to him, "Very observant. I went out with a few friends." He explained.
"And you're here because..." I prompted still not entirely sure why, after a week of not hearing from him, he had decided to show up at my apartment drunk out of his mind. Not to mention he had come on his motorbike. I frowned at that.
"I missed you," he pouted at me and pecked me on the lips, "I've had such a busy week and all I wanted to do was see you." I wavered a little; I guess I could understand that though a text or two doesn't take up much time. I didn't voice that thought though, there was no point and I didn't want to sound needy.
"I want to take you somewhere, hop on!" He motioned for me to jump on his bike as he swung his own leg over. I grabbed at his arm and tugged him off, catching him when he nearly toppled off.
"Hell no! You have had way too much to drink and I am not putting mine or anyone else's life at risk. Don't be fucking stupid!" I huffed at him. He was being such an idiot, I hated drink drivers. I grabbed his hand, "Come on let's sober you up" and led him towards my apartment.
He followed stumbling a little over flat ground, I giggled thinking about how much he looked like a little child right now and that I was meant to be younger than him.
"You know, I'm really enjoying this view. In fact I think it's the best I've ever seen." I could hear the smirk in his voice and turned around to swat his head. He chuckled and winked at me.
Once inside I led him to the sofa and pushed him down. His wince as I did so didn't go unnoticed, "Are you okay?" I asked, concerned. He just shrugged then winced again, unable to play it down. My eyes widened, it must be bad if he can't even shrug!
"I had a little accident but I'm okay it's just a bit of bruising." He insisted. I raised a sceptical eyebrow and, before he could stop me, lifted his shirt up. I gasped loudly. His back and ribs were covered in dark bruises; they looked fresh too, still purple and some black.
"What the fuck, Tyler?! Unless you managed to fall down ten flights of stairs, you are definitely lying to me!" I was so pissed off that he had lied to my face. If he didn't want to talk about it he should have been honest.
He winced at my anger and took my hand, "Look I got into a disagreement with a few guys on my estate and shit went south. Don't worry, it looks worse than it is." I frowned at him before standing up and marching to the kitchen without a word. I ignored him as he shouted "Don't go! Why are you mad?"
Finding what I was looking for I wrapped it up in a dish towel and headed back to the living room.
"Put some ice on it" I shoved the bundle at him with a look that brokered no argument. He sighed and took it, gently placing it on his ribs.
I sat and watched him for a while wondering what had really happened tonight. I wondered whether he had really gotten drunk to numb the pain. He was obviously up to something dodgy but I didn't pry. If things progressed then I would ask him more about it. Sensing that he was being watched, Tyler looked up at me smiling warmly, "Come here." He grabbed my waist and pulled me closer to him before leaning forward and gently brushing his lips against mine. I responded immediately and deepened the kiss. As his tongue found its way into my mouth I was reminded, by the taste, that he was drunk and gently pushed away, giving him one last peck before I got up to leave the room.
