Chapter Fourteen
There was no use in hoping for a unanimous decision. Even though the judgement should have been absolute because of the obvious evidence, some High Council members didn't fully agree with the Fallen's death sentence or his desire to leave Kalis and meet Alpha Trion. Why couldn't everyone just follow along with Sentinel Prime? Why did he even have the idea to make a council of united leaders in the first place?
The Fallen's words came back to him again. Have others bow down to you... Sentinel was still mulling that over. Would society really work that way? Wasn't that a similar lifestyle the Quintessons had employed upon the Cybertronians before now?
The funny thing was, the Fallen's philosophy had caught on among the Council, and had become another topic of debate. Some of the Council members were actually very interested in what the Fallen said, and now they wanted to know what Sentinel Prime thought of it. So they discussed it privately in the same conference room as before in Kalis City.
"Just because he has knowledge of past Primes does not mean that he automatically knows how the perfect society works!" The speaker was Winstreak, a lesser-known, less spoken Council member.
"But," said Drawback, "there is still the chance that he knows what he's doing! What I'm trying to saw is that while he should be executed, we should consider taking up his ideal and going forward with it!"
"So what you're trying to say is," responded Trailblazer, yet another member, "because his 'alter ego' devastated our world, he wants to make up for it before dying by helping us create a better society? Because that seems to me like a slim offer. It doesn't do justice to what he's done. Unless he can help our scouts find the Energon we need, he is of no use to us, and should be disposed of."
"Thank you!" said Bonecure. "That is the subject we need to focus on. Energon! We just need to let this 'Fallen' guy walk into a smelting pool, for all I care. Who cares what he says? The Energon issue is what we should be worried about. And speaking of which--"
"No, Bonecure", Sentinel interrupted wearily, "we are not bringing Dark Energon into this. I have seen firsthand what that poison can do, and it is not something we should continue to possess any longer. In fact, why isn't it already destroyed?"
"Because my scientists and I have been studying it up on one of the orbital space stations!" Bonecure responded.
"Wait," Winstreak said, "the orbital stations are operational?"
"Not exactly," Bonecure said. "They're functional, but they have yet to be launched into the atmosphere."
"Aren't we just using, or should I say wasting more Energon trying to send those stations up there?" Halogen asked.
"No," Trailblazer said, "they function on anti-gravity well projectors. It takes no Energon to fuel their flight."
"Thank you again," Bonecure said, glancing fondly at him. "Now, I'm sure you're all getting annoyed by my constant upbringing about the Energon, so let's move on to a different subject for the time being."
"Yes, let's do that, please," said an exasperated Winstreak. Sentinel could tell he was hating the Energon discussions, as vital as they were. "Can we start by confirming that the Fallen will be executed regardless of how he aids us, if we even let him do that?"
"Well," Trailblazer continued, "we could discuss both topics, and find some way to use him to find Energon for us? It's possible he has some kind of mystical voodoo powers that allow him to do that."
"I thought you wanted him dead," said Halogen.
"I'm just trying to explore all the viewpoints," Trailblazer replied.
