I sang along to the song blasting through the speaker that was placed in my pocket as I rode next to him. He sang too; riding next to me as he did so. We both gasped as the front wheels of our boards nearly collided.
We laughed right after, continuing along. My heart swelled of fondness and love as I heard it, like a song you couldn't get tired of. He looked over at me and smiled. His eyes sparkled, and his smile radiated sunshine.
He held his hand out to me and I grasped it as the wheels of the skateboards continued spinning down the pavement. I inhaled a deep breath that smelled of summer air; the sunset, patches of flowers, and the beautiful boy riding beside me.
"Where we're from, we're no one ..."
He sang the lyrics at the top of his lungs. He nodded his head at me, signaling me to finish the lyric of the song.
"Our home town's in the dark."
We laughed when my voice cracked as I sang aloud. We let go of each others hands to prevent us from falling and continued towards the blue and pink fluorescent sky. We sang the rest of the song together as we rolled up to our final destination.
There was a stack of hay straws that were at least ten feet high. We set our boards beside the pile before racing each other to the top carefully. It wasn't exactly stable, and one wrong moves could knock the whole thing over.
We sat atop the pile and looked over past the trains on the tracks . The sky was more beautiful than I was. But not half as beautiful as him.
As Hometown played on repeat, I watched a single train move along the tracks that lined the rocky pavement. The sunset was just as breathtaking as always. I wish I could capture it in a bucket and cover my walls with the mixture.
I smiled to myself slightly, feeling so soothed, and just happy.
When I turned my head to look at him, he looked over at me. He didn't say anything, but he smiled. His eyes weren't a bright sky blue, nor a dark chocolate brown, but they were hazel green. More green than brown, and so perfect.
He continued looking at me, noticing the features of my face. I laughed and smiled back. "What?" I asked. He just grinned and looked up at the sky for a moment.
He sighed before turning towards me once more. "You're beautiful."
I shook my head. "Art." I mumbled. I looked down at my hands and played with the bottom of my shirt. "You're art. Living, walking, breathing art. And you don't even realise it." I looked back up to see him blushing.
"Thanks." He laughed. I buried my head in my hands and smiled like an idiot. Suddenly I felt arms wrap around me, embracing me. I hugged him back, barring my head in his shoulder. He smelt like this one of a kind cologne, something I could never get tired of.
I leaned away and got his attention. He looked at me confused at first, but before he could say anything, I kissed him. His lips on mine, luring me in. They were so smooth and warm, addicting.
As cliche as it was, our lips went together in sync too perfectly.
This was perfect .
He was perfect.
