They have been dating for a month now. And can’t stand nicks girlfriend, she is so… so… I don’t know! I feel like I never see him anymore, I mean I know I am just his friend, but seriously she doesn’t always need to be around him! I know some people would probably think I was jealous, but I’m not, it’s not like we were dating, but were still best friends! But she is like a blonde hair, green eyed monster. I don’t want to tell nick that she annoys me because he seems happy with her. Maybe if I just tried to get to know her better, I wouldn’t dislike her so much. I know that is probably wishful thinking, I just don’t want to hate his girlfriend. But even her friends are so rude! When I walk down the hall they all glare and sneer at me, it’s like they know and are teasing me about how much it hurts me that I don’t see him as much anymore. But me and nick still have a night once a week to spend time together, we either have it Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

I decided that I was going to ask nick to set up a time that we could hang out, so I can get to know her better. I really hope that I can get to know a better side of her, maybe then I wouldn’t care so much that they are dating. I was brought out of my day dreaming when I heard the bell, it’s finally lunch time. I got out of my seat grabbed my notebook and headed toward my locker. I shoved all my things into my locker and walked toward the lunch room. I saw nick walking towards me, we haven’t sat together at lunch for about a week, nick always invites me to sit with him and his girlfriend, but I don’t know I just don’t feel comfortable around her and her friends. Nick walks next to me and puts his arm around my shoulder in a friendly way. “So, do you want to sit with us at lunch today?” he asked me for the fifth day in a row. I was kind of nervous about sitting with them, but he is my best friend, and I really don’t like sitting alone. “Sure,” I said trying to give him a convincing smile that I was ok with sitting with them. He gave me a big smile and we walked to the cafeteria.

We got to the cafeteria, got our food and walked toward Nick’s girlfriend and her friends; I also recognized some of the guys as the football team sitting at the table. As soon as we sat down Trish, nicks girlfriend, leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. I could tell she was disappointed, because she tried to kiss him on the lips and he turned his head, so she kissed his cheek. Nick looked pretty uncomfortable with her kissing him in the middle of the lunch room; I guess he doesn’t like PDA.

I was sitting on nicks right side and Trish was on his left. I felt someone scoot closer to me; I looked over and recognized him as Anthony, one of the football players. I gave him a small smile and looked down at my pizza and fries. I took a bite of my fries, it felt like someone was staring at me, I looked up a little and realized that it was Anthony again. Why is he staring at me? I looked over at nick and he was talking to Trish, I turned back to my food and looked through my hair to see if Anthony was still looking at me… he was. I sat up straighter and pushed my hair behind my ear and turned to him. “Is there something on my face or something?” he laughed a little and shook his head no, “no, you’re just really pretty.” As soon as he said this I could feel heat rush up to my cheeks, I knew I was now blushing. I have never had a guy, other than Nick, tell me I was pretty. “Thank you,” I said, my voice was quiet and embarrassed. “You are even cuter when you blush,” he said with a half smirk on his face. I felt myself blush even more; I gave him a small smile. “We should hang out sometime,” he said as he wrote something on a napkin. “Ummm… yeah, sure, sounds fun,” I was nervous. He handed me the napkin he had been writing on and it had a phone number on it, his phone number. Then the bell rang, wow, lunch was already over. “I’ll see you around, Abigail.” “Bye,” I said with a smile, as he walked away to his next class.

I stood up and nick was standing there waiting for me, and Trish was standing next to him. We started walking to class together, and nick looked kind of upset, maybe him and Trish got in a fight. “Are you ok?” I asked him. “I am fine,” but I could tell he wasn’t.  “Are you sure, did something happen with Trish?” “No, me and Trish are fine, it’s just, Anthony, he’s not a nice guy. He’s a real jerk and I don’t want him talking to you.” “Ok, you know him better than I do,” I trusted nick and knew he wanted what was best for me. I took the napkin with Anthony’s number on it and shoved it in my pocket, to throw away. Trish coughed and nick looked over at her she told him that she had to head to class and she gave him a kiss on the cheek and walked away. Nick looked a lot more relaxed now; I guess he felt better about the Anthony thing, so I decided I was going to ask him about him, Trish, and me all hanging out so I could get to know Trish better. “I was wondering, maybe you, me, and Trish could all hang out sometime, I would like to get to know her, I mean she is dating my best friend.” “Oh, sure I will have to see when is good for her and I will let you know.” We walked into our class; Trish wasn’t in this class so we sat together, just like old times.
