"Ava!" My best friend, Oliver, called to me from the end of the hallway.

"Hey!" I turned and walked towards him.

"Did you hear about Hailee?"

"No, and I don't really want to." Hailee was the stereotypical queen bee of the school. I hated her.

"Oh, alright then." He let it go and we started talking about the newest episode of Chrona, a TV show we both loved.

----------

After school, Oliver and I hung out at my house. He might as well lived at my house, he was always there. Anyways, I was on Pictam, a social media site that almost everyone had an account for. I was scrolling through everyone's posts and I came across one of Vincent, a guy at our school.

"Why does he have to be so cute?" I accidentally said aloud.

"Who?" Oliver was immediately interested. I knew he liked me, but I was waiting until he got the confidence to tell me himself.

"Mason."

"Of course." He turned back to his phone, probably reading a horror comic.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"He just seems like your type." We ended the conversation and were quiet for the rest of the time he was there. He went home about an hour later.

----------

The next day, me and Oliver didn't talk much. He was probably mad over me liking Mason, but he would get over it as soon as he realized Mason would never talk to me. Mason was the school's badboy who all the girls adored and he had all the friends. I was just a wannabe rebel. He probably didn't even know who I was.

----------

At lunch, me and Oliver talked over the situation and we decided to drop it. We talked about Chrona and other horror stuff. You could say we were geeks when it came to that stuff. That's how we became friends in the first place.

The bell rang and I went to my locker. I got my binder and Tear In My Soul, the book I was currently reading and started to walk to my next class. On the way, out of all people, Mason, stopped me.

"Hey, Avalon right?"

"Yeah, but most people just call me Ava." I didn't like hearing my full name. It brought back memories of my parents that I didn't want.

"Okay, Ava."

"What do you want?" I wasn't trying to be rude, it's just that people like him, don't talk to people like me.

"I heard something from you're little buddy."

"Oliver? What did he say?" I started to get worried that he told Mason to stay away from me. That would cause a lot of unnecessary drama.

But instead of answering me, he kissed me. In front of all the students in the hallway. "Want to be my girlfriend?"

I was so shocked, but of course I still liked Mason. "Yes." I smiled.
