"We live in a corrupt world, where the greed for power and wealth has driven people insane, stripped them of their humanity and will. We forget to help those around us and instead step over them to get to the finish line. And when you win and have the power and wealth in your hands, what next? You realise that you had lost the people who you once loved, greed had caused them to leave and walk away. Lonely- you use the wealth to fill the gap in your heart but the fake smiles and the fake people around you, want what you once wanted-power and wealth- and now that you finally have it you no longer want it." I looked up at the astonished faces of students in front of me, not expecting me to say any of that. Turning my head to Ms Williams, I smile lightly walking back to my seat.
"When you told me you were going to write something deep I didn't know it was this melancholy," Steph whispered next to me her eyes suddenly wide with astonishment.
"Well it's my last day here before my dad sends me to London, so I thought might as well." I sighed slouching down in my chair, suddenly not feeling like listening to Martha brag about her Dads multi-dollar company in front of the class.
"Is she serious. How can someone be this big-headed." Stephanie huffed crossing her arms over her chest mirroring my actions, staring out of the window at the empty football field which seemed more intriguing. I turned to Stephanie, realising how much I was going to miss her. We practically grew up together, she was basically like a sister. Her mother was my nanny and took care of me more than my own parents, She was more of a mother than my own blood. I had become so attached that I begged my father to let Stephanie join my school. It had worked but now I had to leave for London, leaving both of them behind, I hated every bit of it, but I knew my father wouldn't change his mind. I had crossed the line and now paying for the consequences.
" OMG Ella, it's your last day. I'm gonna miss you so much." Snapping out of my thoughts, I turned my gaze towards the source of the voice.
"Fuck off Martha," I grumbled, pushing myself off the chair. Martha's fake smile dropped and a hint of anger took over her features, but she remained silent.
" Martha, You're speaking as if she's moving all the way across the world. she's only going to London. It's like what 6-hour drive from Paris." Jessica appeared rolling her eyes at Martha before leaving the classroom. I stared at Martha waiting for her to move so I could leave the classroom, but when she didn't, I huffed in annoyance at her childish act shoving her back. It was true that London wasn't that far from Paris but it was the thought of going back to the place which I loathed, a place which haunted me the most.
" I can't believe you're leaving me with that witch." Stephanie huffed, turning her back to look at a seething Martha. Shrugging I pulled up my middle finger at Martha, who nearly yelled in frustration.
" I can't believe my dads sending me to Arlington..."
"Isn't that so cool you get to meet the worlds richest," Stephanie remarked sarcastically.
"Don't remind me."
"Wait. Why are you so down? It's your last day, which means you need to leave with a bang." Stephanie remarked her eyes glistering with mischief. My frown turned upside down, loving Stephanies idea. I wasn't gonna leave quietly.
