Floating astronaut
Tether to my vessel drawn taut
With excitement in my wake
Limbs begin to quakeDiving in head first
For an unforgettable adventure I thirst
The stars like delicate drops of dew
As I suck them dry, so disappears my illuminated viewDon't dare glance back
No last glimpse of home will shine through the black
Submerged in the depths of nothing
Memories of boundaries and cages I'm loathingFree at last
Into the darkness I stare aghast
It offers a mirror within the vacant pool
As it spins the past, present and future into one long, inky spoolThis endless expanse of empty eternity
Mindless and massive in its majesty
Swallows my sinking, swerving ship
Into the glory of gravity's godlike grip.........
Earth to space cadet
Snapping fingers in front of my face
Yank my mind from outer space
I'm no brave, voyaging pirate
Just a lonesome, daydreaming poet
