The search

I was still stunned at how quickly everything just happened. What did I just get myself into?

I had no clue where I was suppose to look. I decided to start in my home state. I start to walk before I find myself stopped completely. Right in front of me was a mother and her ducklings. I didn't have time to sit and gush over how cute they were I wanted to get this over with. So I jump over the ducks. I close my eyes and am shocked when I don't feel the ground below me a couple seconds after jumping.

Wait. I think. Am I floating? I most definitely was. I look down to see the ground below me, but not against my feet.

"Ahhhhhh!" I scream. The heck is this? I flailed my arms and started freaking out.

Ghosts float. A memory came to me, about the time my dad read me a book about ghosts. Ghosts float was one of the 'fun facts'. Now that I knew what was happening it was time to master floating. It's basically just flying, right? I stop waving my arms back and forth and start pretty much swimming forward. I think I'm getting the hang of this! Just then I stopped moving forward and fell.

"Whaaaaaa!" I yell as I fall. I feel nothing and look to see myself inches from the ground with both of my hands by my face. I pause there for a minute before I start to push my hands to the ground. Before they can touch the ground I am flung upwards and into a spiral. "Not again!" I screech terrified.

The spiraling stops and I put both of my hands to my side quickly and kick my open legs together.

Within seconds I am flying across the sky. I look down at the trees satisfied with myself for figuring it out.

"Woohoo!" I shout as I do a backwards circle and continue flying forwards.

I don't have many plans on where I'm going but I decide to go to my high school to see how everyone is handling the news.

I find myself in front of the diminish brick building with shiny glass doors that must've just been cleaned.

I float through taking advantage of my new abilities.

I float as high as the ceiling to get a better looking point. I watch kids filing in and out of the halls whispering to each other. I decide to listen in on a couple of conversations once I hear my name coming from then.

"Did you hear what happened to Joanna?"
"Yeah but it's not like she'll be missed, she was a weirdo with no friends who wasn't even good at drawing."

I was hit hard by this and I flew to a corner where I buried my head in my knees.

"Hey, you alright?" I look up to see the voices inhabiter is a boy about my age standing right in front of me.
