Winter wanted for Jake outside as she was sitting upon a frosty log. Jake had promised her that he would show up this day. She waited for his unforgettable fire to appear. After another half hour it looked as if there was a shooting star blazing across the sky. It flew towards Winter and stopped about 5 feet away from the girl. The flames dispersed and there was an armored man.
Winter had never seen someone in armor like this before. The man took off the helmet and it was Jake. Jake raked his fingers through his hair and smiled at Winter.
"Hey, babe." He cooed with his million dollar smile.
Winter was confused as she approached him.
"Jake... W-why are you in armor?" The boy shook his head.
"No reason. I have clothes underneath!" He mentioned as he began to remove his breastplate.
Winter now was sure her lover was hiding something from him, but why? What was it?
"J-Jake, really... Why are you wearing that armor...?" The fire man sighed and shook his head then glanced around.
"I-" he began then cut himself off. "Look... I can't tell you."
"W-why not? You can t-tell me anything." Winter reminded him, but Jake just shook his head.
"I can't put you in danger."
"What danger...?" The girl was confused. She didn't see any danger.
"If I tell you, they could hurt you or even kill you...! It's too dangerous."
"W-what's so dangerous...?! I just want to know!"
Jake stepped away from Winter and a wisp of smoke started to come out his nose. "No!"
Winter whimpered and flames downward. "S-sorry..."
Jake's eyes stopped glaring and they watered a little. "I-I'm so sorry, babe. Babe, please... I just don't want you to get hurt..."
"N-no... Just keep hiding from me..." Winter's tender blue eyes were sad.
Jake sighed. "Im really am sorry...!" He reached his hand out for hers, but then pulled it away. "Babe, we already said that fire and ice don't go together. You are subtle, gentle, kind like ice. I am annoying, mean and rough. You cry easily, and I stay standing till the end. You are so beautiful, I don't even deserve you... Fire and ice... It isn't easy. I love you, but I don't know if this can work..." Jake looked down as those words came out of his mouth.
Winter's icy eyes were starting to melt with tears. "W-what are you saying, J-Jake...?" Her hands trembled. "P-please don't leave me...!"
"I don't want to, but we've fought like this before..."
"Jake...!" Winter begged. "Please d-don't leave me! Y-you're the only one who cares!" She cried into her shaky hands.
"I can't. I don't want to, but..."
"P-please! I-I'm sorry!"
"I am too..."
Winter rushed to Jake and tightly hugged him as she cried.
"But I can't do this." Jake said and gave her one last kiss. "Goodbye, Winter..." and with that, Jake backed away and flew off.
