Zayn POV

I wish I didn't have to go along with this. Lets be real, I love Ariana Grande.

"Zayn." Niall shouted from behind me.

"Coming Niall."

It was Ariana's birthday, and the plan was going to be put into action.

"Where is everyone then?"

It was 6pm, her party started at 7.

"They're coming." The look in his eyes made me want to stab myself  three-hundred times.

"She's gone." I shut my eyes closed. "She's gone Niall."

He didn't say anything.

Why?

"Why aren't you answering me?" My heart skipped a beat.

Still no answer.

"Niall." I gritted my teeth. "Why arent you answering me?"

He gulped.

"I'm sorry." He left the room, shutting the door behind him, leaving me in the dark in the party room we hired.

Liz POV

"Which one's better?"

Harry held up a black dress shirt and another black dress shirt.

"They're both the same."

"No, this one ha-"

"Stop stressing me out, god!!"

I grabbed the left shirt

"This one, now go get changed."

He went to his room and got changed.

In the mean time, I sat down and watched some TV.

What else could you do when you were about to betray your best friend?

Ariana POV

"I never want to see him again."

"Look, sweetheart i know its hard but it's your birthday!" My mom tired to lighten the mood.

"Sorry, i'm just mad at him." I gave her a weak smile.

"Come on, et your dress on!" She left me in my bedroom.

I slipped on the purple dress i'd picked out, put on a silver neclace and heated up my curling iron.

Just before I was about to start curling my hair there was a knock at the door.

"Come in."

I looked in my mirror to see who just walked through the door.

"Niall?" I said, puzzled as to why he was in my house.

He kept his eyes locked to the ground.

He inhaled hard.

"A-are you alright?" i asked, turning to face him.

"No." He said, fighting what I could only identify as a whimper.

Was he crying?

"Hey!" I got up and walked to him, putting a hand on his back. "What's up."

"Whatever happens tonight, you have to do the opposite to what Zayn wants you to do."

*

Two hours into my party and I still had no idea what Niall meant.

All my friends were here, having a good time, drinking, dancing.

Then there was Zayn.

I couldn't stop looking at him, which annoyed me.

He was sat in the corner, watching Niall speak to Harry and Liz with what looked like disgust in his eyes.

But I wasn't going to speak to him.

Instead I went over to Liam and Danielle.

"Hey you guys." I said quietly.

"Hey birthday girl!" Danielle smothered me with a huge bear hug. "You having a good time?"

"Yeah, I suppose."

I looked at Liam. He wouldn't let his eyes meet mine. I wondered why.

"Look, you two go dance, I'll just stay here and er.. mingle." Liam said awkwardly.

Danielle just shrugged.

The Way came on over the speakers.

"Come on, it's your song!"

Danielle grabbed my hand and pulled me to the middle of the dancefloor.

before i knew it, almost everyone was on the floor, all singing along.

Apart from Zayn.

But he was looking at me.

In a way I didn't like - like in those werewolf movies when the guys about to change.

He was scaring me, but i didn;'t stop looking. Neither did he.

Then he averted his eyes from me to the glass on his table.

He picked it up then chugged it back in one gulp.

I never took my eyes off him, though.

He stayed seated until the rest of the song and didn't look at me again.

Then he did something.

He got up and lifted his glass and his car keys.

He hit the side of his glass with his keys, as if proposing a speech.

"everyone listen up."

Everyone hushed.

"Now, we;ve got a very special guest here for you Ari."

My heart beat raced.

"Zayn?" My voice was hardly a whisper.

He didn't hear it anyway.

"Niall, why don't you open the door." He said, mocking one of those old tv game shows.

Niall didn't move.

"Niall." Zayn's voice was hard.

Niall moved really slowly - and he was shaking.

When he reached the door, he turned to me and mouthed 'sorry'.

I wasn't sure why,

I wasnt sure of a lot of things.

And I surely wasnt sure of what was hiding behind the door.
