A breeze blew through my hair as I looked across the city below me. Fourteen years ago today, I was born. So much had changed since I turned thirteen. At thirteen I was still "straight", still dating fake girlfriends. At thirteen I was still living with my family, going to church, and being spoiled rotten by my mum. But now, I was out of the closet, and out of the house. I was me, I didn't hide anymore. I was on my own now, with no gifts from my mum, and no birthday wishes from my family, except my eldest brother, Colin. I had no fake girlfriend, or real boyfriend. I basically only had Elle. I wouldn't have changed what I did, but the place I was in wasn't easy- by any stretch of the word.

I took a deep breath, my lungs filling with the warm, clean air. I closed my eyes and sat back on my hands. I was relaxing in this manner when the door to the roof smashed against the wall of the building. My eyes snapped open and I spun around to look at the roof behind me.

Chance tumbled out of the door and onto the roof, staggering towards me with alarming determination. His hair was disheveled, sticking out in every direction. His cheeks were flushed and he was breathing hard. My heart began to pound against my rib cage. I had no idea what to expect, but I remember thinking that my birthday was about to get a whole lot worse.

Chance stopped a step away from me, took a deep breath, and grabbed me around the waist, gently picking me up into his arms. And then he kissed me. And the world exploded.
