By the time we’d reach there, I was lightheaded. He had held my hand the whole way here. Rubbing circles into my palm.
He was one big flirt.
I didn’t want to get sucked in with the whole ‘Hero/Bad-boy’ act. But it was happening, no matter how I felt about it.
When we got in the late night diner, he picked a booth towards the back. He had changed into a tight fitting black t-shirt, and denim jeans. His hair was still messy, but I had to say I preferred it that way.
He ordered a chocolate sundae with m&ms, while I ordered a vanilla ice-cream cone. I purposely stayed away from the chocolate. Chocolate makes me hyper.
I furrowed my eyebrows and slid my vanilla cone to the left after taking a spoonful of my plain ice-cream.
“What’s the matter?” Zach said, noticing my perplexed expression.
“Oh…nothing.” I said.
“It’s something alright,” Zach said, as his hand inched closer and intertwined with mine. “You don’t like your ice-cream?”
“It’s not that…” I started, but quickly changed my mind. “Actually yeah, there is something wrong with my ice-cream. It’s too plain.”
“Uh, you ordered it yourself?” Zach said, with an amused smile appearing on his face.
“I know…It’s just. I thought getting chocolate on my ice-cream wouldn’t be a good idea…It makes me hyper.” I replied, hesitantly wondering whether or not he’ll conceive me as weird.
He shocked me by letting out a low chuckle. “Well, sweetheart, have some of mine. I’m sure I can handle you.” He slid his ice-cream towards me and waited for my reaction. “Go on now; it’s just a little chocolate.”
“Alright.” I said, as I took a spoonful of the delicious chocolaty goodness into my mouth. I savored the delicious syrup and shut my eyes reminiscing in the flavor.
“Alright now princess, you can open your eyes, I’m sure it tastes great and all, but don’t starve me.” Zach said, snapping me out of my trance.
“Don’t be a beast Zachary Lorde!” I tried shouting at him, with my mouth full of ice-cream, but all that came out was “Humph- hum hum humph!”
Zach winced and slid the ice-cream onto his side of the table. “Behave. Or else I’m going to leave you here.” Zach said, wagging his finger at me like I was a child.
I kicked Zach’s leg from under the table, earning a look of pure anger from Zach.
“Did you just kick me?” Zach asked, with a look of surprise on his handsome face.
“Yup.” I said, with a smirk forming.
“Oh you little-“But before Zach could finish his curse, I got up from my chair with a yelp and ran into the ladies restroom.
After a long 3 minutes I opened the restroom door and took a peek outside. With Zach nowhere in sight, I tiptoed out. I looked both ways, and when I saw the coast was clear, I began walking at a faster pace, all of a sudden when I had just regained my confidence, I felt hands on my waist and I was lifted up into the air.
“Ahh!” I screamed, as Zach flung me onto his shoulder,
“We’re going home princess. You’re getting violent”. Zach said, and when he laughed I could hear the rumble throughout his chest.
I began punching his back and shouting at him to let me go. Which earned Zach and I amused smiles from everyone in the diner. I thought I heard someone say, “Young love.” What the heck??
Why weren’t these people helping me!? I’m a poor defenseless girl being manhandled by a crazy hot boy, and no one will even help me? What have we come to people??
When Zach laughed again, I realized I had said all that aloud. Whoops. A faint blush tainted my cheeks.
By the time we were home I was dizzy from the proximity of Zach and I. Being that close to him was torture. He was sooooooooo enticing.
My eyes were beginning to droop and when I focused again I saw that Zach had somehow come into my room. He laid me down onto my bed in one swift move…
“Goodnight, Selena.” He murmured before kissing my forehead.
“Stay.” I whimpered, hoping he would listen. I turned, facing away from him when he didn’t respond.
A minute later the bed dipped as he came and joined me. He wrapped his arms around my waist. My head was against his chest, facing away from him. We were in a comfortable spooning position. I shut my dreary eyes and fell into a heavy sleep.
