Chapter 5

guys, I know I take forever to update but I'll try to update soon! Hope you enjoy the chapter!

Monsters of every kind were eating, laughing, training, and casually killing each other in what looked like a camp. I can only imagine what it must have looked like with the Mist. Maybe a construction site. I think I could see it because I knew about it.

I was paralyzed with fear because I had never seen a monster before (besides the hellhounds), let alone an army.

Percy walked up to the fence as if to climb it.

"Percy, what do you think your do—" Annabeth was cut off by Percy's yelp. He had tried to place his hands on the fence but an electric invisible barrier stopped him.

He jumped back. "There's an invisible wall." Percy rubbed his hands.

"No duh, Captain Obvious," Elise teased.

I sighed. "Well now what? We don't know how to get you guys back and there's a horde of monsters parked outside our school."

"We can only get in through the school, I bet." Christine said.

"Isn't it closed?" Elise asked.

"Well, school starts in a bit anyway so we can just bring them with us and they can go through the inside." My idea was approved of by the others.

"When exactly is your first day?" Frank asked.

"Tomorrow," Elise said.

"Well then, I guess that settles it. Do you guys know about any places we could stay?" Annabeth asked.

"I have a huge attic that no one uses. You could just set up in there." I offered.

"You don't mind?" Jason asked.

"Not at all," I smiled.

Suddenly, the school sophomore jock, Nick Wells sprinted to where we were standing. He was in jogging clothes. He was your average California guy. Beach blond hair, blue eyes, tall and muscular frame. Yeah, all that.

Nick was a secret nerd, though and only Christine, Elise and I know. He made us swear not to say anything because he had a "reputation" to uphold (I didn't say he wasn't conceited.) In fact, it was Christine that got him into his first series. Coincidentally, that series was Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Nick was so into these five books, he read the next five and countless others that the three of us recommended to him. I also thought he had a crush on Christine but I never said anything and she didn't seem to notice.

Breathless he pointed to the army camp. "WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?"

He looked at us for answers, but I had nothing. He finally noticed the seven. Nick looked between us and them a few times and asked. "Cosplayers?"

Most of us laughed. "Surprisingly, Nick, no. Guys, this is Nick. Nick these are the Seven. From the books." I went on to tell him everything that had happened to us. He looked at me with incredulity.

"They aren't the real seven. That's impossible." Nick said.

"Frank, do your thing!" Elise said. Frank hesitantly shifted to parakeet form and landed on Hazel's shoulder. She petted his head.

Nick almost fell over but Christine put a hand on his shoulder and he steadied himself. He blushed a little. Their height difference is hilarious , I thought to myself.

"I know it sounds crazy, Nick, but they popped out of Sam's book." She lowered her hand but stayed standing next to him. "But monsters came out with them and I'm 76% sure they want to take over this world, too. So we're going to take them to school with us tomorrow and they're going to get the monsters from the inside."

"Huh, good plan." said Nick. "Well, as much as this experience has made me question my existence, I have to go to practice. I guess I will see all of you at school tomorrow." He waved to all of us and jogged away, laughing to himself.

After Frank transformed back to human form, We all made our way back to my house. There I gathered up all the blankets possible and gave them to the seven. They all made their way up the creaky stairs.

"Jeez," Christine commented when we were up in the attic I hadn't seen in years. "What died in here?"

I chuckled.

"Nothing a little febreze can't fix. Not to worry." Leo pulled a new bottle out of his belt and sprayed to his hearts content.

"That's way better." Hazel said.

We decided to order a couple of pizzas and when they got here I whipped out the Monopoly. We played a game that would have made my parents proud. Piper ended up winning leaving Annabeth aghast. Apparently she had this perfect strategy that was infallible. I guess not.

Everyone got settled around five and the seven went up to the attic. I had told them to keep it down because my parents would get suspicious.

The three of us went to my room and just talked.

"Dude, I still cannot believe it. They--They came to life. Do you understand how impossible this is? The laws of physics are sobbing right at this moment." Christine spoke with such a sincerity that Elise and I burst out laughing.

When we calmed down, Elise suddenly asked me, "Did you notice Leo flirting with you, Sam?"

"Wh-What?" I stammered. Blood was rising to my cheeks.

"Aw! You didn't even notice! I think you guys would be adorable together. Not kidding." Elise said.

But then I remembered. "Wait, but he ends up with... Calypso."

"Ohhh that's true." Elise said looking downcast.

"I thought she was way too snobby for Leo, anyway.  And I feel like Rick just paired them up because they were both single." Christine sighed.

At that moment, my mom got home and yelled out her usual greeting: "SAM I'M HOOOMMMEEE." We all laughed at her. She came into my room arms full of groceries.

"Why hello, Christine and Elise. You do know it's a school night, right?" They smiled and took that as a sign that they should probably be getting back home. Both gave me a bone crushing hug and said bye to my mom.

"See you tomorrow Sam!" Elise yelled out.

"See you!"

As I was going to sleep, I wondered if I would wake up and this would all turn out be a dream. I drifted off.
