Authors note- this is sort of a prequel or back round history for a series I'm writing. The history of another place is on kishan_1020. It is a collaboration work, so see him for further detail. Please enjoy and check kishan_1020 out.

28 years before...
Ice cold sea water splashed on Darek's face as he and his crew where being battered by the waves.
"Drop the sails!" He roared over the deafening sound of natures assault.
"Rowers, use your oars as rudders and ride the current."
He went below decks to save himself and left his first mate. His eyes where red rimmed from staring through rain at the tiller of the ship the Black Dragon.
A crew mate came down patted him on the back and said "Capt'n, u n'd s'me res'," he said this with a thick foreign accent. Darek's understood and went to his quarters where he fell to sleep under the constant lulling of the sea.
When he woke up it was to screaming. He went above decks to see a rogue wave threaten to swamp the ship. He yelled "Get below decks, we'll bail her after the wave. They all rushed below decks. As the wave crashed, the deck groaned as if to object to the treatment it was receiving. As soon as the ship stopped rolling, the crew rushed above decks, and bailed. Darek did the best job, working twice as hard as his crew mates to save his pride, the shift he built to explore the world. He was the type of leader who got his hand dirty. Soon most of the water came off and he took his rightful place at the helm at the sea, where he would battle natures wrath as until the crew sighted land. He was distracted as the man on the mast yelled "Rogue wave, starboard side, it can swamp the mast!"
Darek yelled "Everyone get below decks, reef the sails, or we all die. Darek did his best to try to steer his beauty into an angle that would not rip her to pieces.
His loyal first mate was by his side. He started squinting, "Iceberg up ahead. He was trapped. He could try to navigate the sea ice, go against the wind, get smashed by a rogue wave, or die by iceberg. His beauty, ripped to shreds by the sea. He had a slim chance of survival going up against the rogue wave. He steered the ship toward the moving, massive, wall of water.
"Black Dragon, it was a pleasure seeing you." The wind picked up and the wave began to crest. This was it. The black dragon would die. His crew would die. He would die. His best friend and first mate would die. His oath to do anything to keep his crew safe was shattered. He was a failed captain. He started to start to welcome the wall of water to come down and kill him.
