  "What do you mean?"
"Boy, you think you're papas name'll do you good, he ain't a lord of the waves."
Rody was surprised by this. He thought after the torture of cleaning the feet, he would get the job.
The captain continued "It would be ok if you where not back up first mate and just bilge bailer though, but you ain't being backup first mate.
Rody thought about it, and realized it was better to be cleaning at sea than at his moms laundry house.
"May I only be bilge bailer. The wiry man cracked a smile "That's the sort of respect I deserve."
Rody was relieved he finally was able to go with the ship. Rody asked "When will we set sail?"
"Well the High Captain sent us to see if we could find new lands, so maybe later this week, there is no storms in the air." The captain replied.
Rody left, happy he was on a ship that would let him not be killed immediately.
He went through the melted snow, he saw a few children playing. His mom saw him and as soon as he arrived she asked "What happened?"
"Well the high captain let me go on his ship, and I am bilge bailer."
"Honey, that's great, remember in a ship you have to earn the captains trust, your dad, he was a bilge bailer until he built a ship and proved himself worthy to be a  captain."
"Yes ma,"
"Oh, honey can you go hunting, we need some meat."
Rody picked up his knife and his bow, and set out.
