things that remind me of you

- hot summer days, because we would always spend them together, either wading in the creek or eating cold popsicles under a shady tree (oh, how I miss those days.)

- swimming pools, because we used to splash and jump and play in the cool water of yours.

- Uno, because we used to play sitting cross-legged on your couch, and I couldn't deny the feeling of something poking at my chest (did you feel it too?)

-attics, because every time I think of one, I remember your voice warning me not to step off of the wooden beams or else I'd fall through the kitchen ceiling.

- climbing trees, because you were always such a daredevil. I would watch you from the ground as you climbed higher and higher and higher in the trees of my backyard.

- dandelions, because of that cold day in October when we watched the dainty white seeds float away together (that was the day I realized you would never leave me.)

-air hockey, because we used to play round after round in your basement (it just isn't the same when I play anymore.)

- choir, because you were in it and I still remember how much I missed you on the Fridays you were gone.

- monkey bars, because I always admired you for how good at them you were.

- mint chocolate ice cream, because we had a big bowl of it that one afternoon years and years (and years) ago.

- long driveways, because your driveway will always be the longest to me.

- music, because I love watching you in the morning while you listen to music. You tap your foot and nod your head and mouth the words (and I keep falling and falling...)

- long wooden hallways, because we once raced Lego cars down the dark wooden planks of your upstairs hallway.

- socks, because you liked to hide mine when I was at your house,

- Christmas break, because that's when I found out how in love I am with you (and all I could think about was seeing you again.)

-dewy mornings, because every morning I watch you looking out the window, and I wish I was sitting right by your side.

- pick-up lines, because your full of all the nerdy and cheesy ones (they never fail to make me laugh)

- closeness, because you're always right there (but I never reach out)

- late night thoughts, because you occupy every single one of mine.

- science, because you care so deeply for it, and I love you for that.

- dreams, because you're in a lot of mine (but you still don't love me back in any of them.)

-bicycles, because even though you broke my heart, it still fluttered when I saw you pull into my driveway that chilly day in September.

- familiarity, because that's the feeling I get every single time I see or think about you.

- raspberry chapstick, because we laughed so hard that one day and swore I saw something in your eyes (please don't let it just be my imagination.)

- wishes, because all of mine are about you (I wish you loved me, not her.)

- heartbreak, because it's a result of my wishes and our friendship.

- love, because you still don't realize how deep in it I am with you (not even after all these years...)
