After dropping Katie back to whatever crest apartment complex, I headed home myself. One could say my head was in the clouds, especially the man in a Prius, who I nearly crashed into.

At Fane Manor, as I call it, I ran straight to Kirt's room. Kirt had taken father's role as CEO of Deluge when he died two months ago. He had also taken up his role as my dad. Boy was I in trouble for coming home late.

I ran in to find the room empty and a note on his desk. I already knew what it was going to say, I'm busy with work and I'll be home late.

Dear Rivin,

I'm kinda busy with work. Gotta attend another boring meeting. Don't wait up for me, I better see you in bed when I get back.

Sincerely, Kirt

I chuckled a little at the somewhat formal, somewhat not, note. Just then I heard the door open. In a panic I raced out of his room and into my own. I threw my sandy shoes under my bed and pretended to be asleep.

Not a second later did I hear Kirt open the door and walk up to my bed. I knew it was Kirt. I could pick his breathing out in a marathon. It was because we knew each other so well that he kicked me right off my bed.

"Ow," I said.

"Serves you right. Didn't I sat I wanted you asleep when I got home?"

"No, you said you wanted to see me in bed, which I am." He rolled his eyes before lending me a hand up.

"You know what I meant," he said, angrily. I laughed aloud.

"Bro, I'm only twelve minutes younger than you. I don't see why I have to do whatever you say."

"Because I pay the bills, dufus."

"I guess that makes sense, but I am a 26 year old man you know. I don't need you babying me." He waved the comment away.

"So how was your date?"

"Great, we took a stroll on the beach. There's a full moon tonight you know?"

"Mhm. Well you get to bed I've got work to finish up." I threw my shirt and pants off and slide back into bed.

"Whatever you say boss."

"Good night, Rivin."

"Night, Kirt." He switched the light off and walked away.
