*Warning: Rivin and Katie really get it on! An anonymous family member is to blame for what happens in this chapter. Mind you I did not write the more *cough* *cough* mature scenes in this chapter. *
I walked down the sidewalk slowly. I didn't feel like taking the bus, I wanted this trip to take as long as possible.
I don't know why I was so disturbed about this. It was just a job offer, and a good one at that. For some reason though I felt an attachment to Daylight. I didn't even seem to work there anymore, I lost connection with all my coworkers. I received my paycheck from Mr. Fane. I haven't even been to the building since that meeting. Yet, it felt wrong to just leave.
I wanted to bring Daylight to heights, not just leave it for the better offer. I knew this is how the world was. You're supposed to move on, travel with the current, or you'll drown, but I want to stay with Daylight.
It started to drizzle lightly. I looked up, it was a sun shower. A familiar Porsche parked next to me. The window slid down revealing a familiar face.
"Katie?" asked Mr. Fane. His outfit seemed different. Had he changed out of his gray suit? I looked at the the solid purple polo he was wearing.
"Mr. Fane?"
"What are you doing walking in the rain?"
"I felt like walking home." He smiled a little, opening the passenger seat door.
"Get in, I'll drop you off home." Without much thought I walked around and hopped inside.
"So, what are you doing here, Mr. Fane? Did you get out of work early?"
"Oh, um, yeah." He fidgeted around as he answered. That was odd. I stared out the window at the rain. What would working at Deluge be like? I doubt anything would change. Maybe, just maybe I could change my mind. Want to bring Deluge to heights instead of Daylight.
"So, uh, Katie, how about we stop somewhere before I take you home."
"Stop somewhere? Where do you want to go?"
"Well, I was wondering if you'd want to go to my house."
"Your house?"
"Yeah, my brother's currently at work, so we should have it ourselves."
"Oh, um, ok." Mr. Fane's house. It's probably a mansion. Sure enough when we drove in through the gate, I could see a large manor with a gorgeous front yard. A fountain sat in the center of a shrubbery maze.
"Wow," I said.
"Do you like it?" he asked, rubbing the back of his head.
"It's huge, and gorgeous. Who was the architect?"
"I don't know, my dad bought it." He got out, opening the door for me. We walked inside, me gawking in awe at the stunning interior.
"This is the main stairway. The kitchen and guest bedrooms are on the next floor, then me and my brothers rooms, and then the master bedroom." He hopped up the stairs two at a time. He glided into a room with an oak door. I walked in. Mr. Fane was sitting on the bed and patted on it, indicating for me to sit beside him.
"Nice bedroom," I said, he put an arm around my shoulder.
"I wanna see your apartment sometime." I laughed.
"It's a lot smaller than your house, and messier." He just smiled.
"I've seen it from the outside, I'm not expecting a mansion inside."
"Well, if you want to see it, I'm not going to get in your way." He grinned, wrapping an arm around me. I smiled, his lips inching towards me. I could feel him smirk as they connected. I wrapped my arms around his neck, leaning forward.
