Serena's Pov

First thoughts about Virginia, definitely similar to Maryland in many ways. When Blake and I stepped out of the train we were greeted by our loving grandparents Sheryll and Bob. I couldn't imagine my life without them. I'm so blessed to have a home away from home, or rather a home away from hell, my actual home. I hugged them so tight and grandma picked up Blake into her loving arms. On the way home I start going on and on about my life with Grandpa. He's so proud of how much I've grown and how much I've achieved in the past years, unlike my Dad who could care less. He listens so attentively and gives me the best advice. I love them so much.

We suddenly enter the village of my grandparents "wow" I say under my breath. "You like it honey?" Says my grandpa "It's beautiful here! All the houses look amazing" I reply.

Truly it was a stunning sight to see. Beautiful big houses everywhere. When we arrived at my grandparents' home, I smiled and quickly got out of the car.

In Maryland the towns are quite small and the houses are very minuscule compared to these. I guess you could say that I'm a small town girl, not used to all of this yet.

My grandparents own a business here in Virginia which stayed strong throughout the years. I still don't know how or why I ended up in Maryland in the first place... Why couldn't we just live here? Parents were always so secretive with Blake and I.

As we entered the house we were greeted by Oreo, a huge black Labrador "Gran I remember the last time I was here he was just a little baby!" I say to granny "Yeahp now he's a grown up just like you!" She replies. We both laugh and I reply "Gran I'm not that old I'm only 13!" "Sure but before you know it you'll be off the college" gran says with a sad tone. "Don't worry gran I'll always be your little Serena!" And we both hug. I'm so thankful to have her in my life.

I head upstairs and check out my room, which is the guest room. But to my surprise, the room was so beautiful. It was as if it was made for me. "This was your mom's room when she was a kid" Grandpa says out of no where. Mmm I guess my mom and I aren't as opposite as I thought we were. The room had white walls and paintings that she had done before. Weird to think that my mom had a life before I did.

I visit Blake's room, which is right across mine. It's cute, blue and all he's ever wanted. He's sleeping because he's so tired. What a cutie.

I head outside and it seemed about 4pm. The sun was still shining but it wasn't too hot to walk. As I was Looking at the surroundings, I notice that the village seemed really safe. I walk around and all of a sudden I start hearing loud sounds coming from a house not so far away. Suddenly a boy, about my age storms out of the house almost in tears. I know it's not my business to intervene with his family problems but when someone is in need of help, it's just my natural instinct to be there for that person.

The boy heads to the playground and sits on one of the swings. I'm having second thoughts about approaching him but I'm too close now to turn away. I sit beside him on the other swing and began swinging. He quickly starts wiping his face and turns around and looks at me. "Hi I'm Jacob".
