Chapter 1

It wouldn't be long... Before Ryuk wrote my name in his Death Note, It was part of the deal after all. So I laid on the cold stairs bloody, bruised, broken and most of all defeated, Near had won and I would never become the god of the new world.
It was stupid and childish to think I would ever win... And I regret everything from the moment I picked up that notebook. It ruined me, and the people I loved... mom, dad, Sayu and... L

A blurry figure appeared in front of me, It was a man... surrounded by bright light. The figure shifted, until it finally took its original form...No, It can't be..

"L..." My eyes widened, and began to tear up

He stood there, emotionlessly starring at me and didn't say a word...Hell, I doubt he has anything to say to his supposed "friend" who betrayed him...

"L...I- I'm..." I could barley speak with all the blood in my mouth. Although it's useless to apologize and try explain, I had to get this off my chest
"I'm so sorry... I-I swear I never ment to hurt the ones I loved... Including you. The Death Note made me crave more power, and I guess it led to this, heh..."

His face showed no emotion, he just stared blankly at me, he tilted his head, and it made his eyes more visible. Tears formed at the ends but he didn't let them escape

"Sometimes I wondered what would have been of us, if I had never picked up that notebook. I wonder if we would have had a happy ending... It's sad it had to come to this" I felt my heart beat begin to slow down, it wasn't Ryuk's Death Note, It was from my wounds and all the blood loss

"...Maybe in another life, we'll get our happy ending"

His body moved upwards , as if trying to fix his terrible posture and make his face more visible, it made me laugh. And he smiled at me... A genuine smile. He smiled at the person who he considered his only friend, but who still betrayed him. Though I can see by his face, that he had no resentment. Even by knowing that he had forgiven me, it still didn't help making me feel any less guilty, But I still managed to smile back... For him.

I closed my eyes, knowing that L would be by my side until my last moments... It was comforting. I felt his warm hands, and he pressed his lips against mine. I opened my eyes and saw a bright light

And felt my heart completely stop.
