Chapter 41: scared to death
-Bex p.o.v.-

When I woke up the first thing I saw was blue eyes. Not one pair, but two. An icy pair and the other the color of the ocean.

"How are you?" Ocean eyes asked.

"Are you hurt?" Icy eyes questioned.

I rubbed at my eyes with the back of my hand, getting rid of the blurriness. When my eyes focused on the three figures I couldn't help but giggle at their worried-ness.

"I'm fine, guys." I glanced around, noticing the familiar walls of the hospital wing. "Why am I back here?"

The icy eyes softened, Blake spoke up, "you had another one of your episodes and caught your bed on fire."

Sebastian rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, "you might have also ended up catching the other beds on fire as well."

I frowned, "I did?" I couldn't help but feel guilty.

"Don't worry, the girls understand." Blake patted my arm in a comforting manner.

"So when do I get out of here?" I looked out of the window, at the bright sky.

"Ozzy's taking to Madam Pomphey. They should be back in a minute or two." Sebastian informed me quickly glancing over his shoulder at a small sound. He tensed, changing into his kitten form and curling up in my lap just as the two came in sight of my bed, peering around the curtain.

"Bex! Your awake! How do you feel?" Ozzy jumped to my side, grabbing my hand and staring into me with his golden eyes.

I giggled, "I'm fine."

"Are you really?" He pressed.

"Yes, perfectly fine." I assured him with a smile.

"Well I have good news," Poppy chirped.

I looked at her expectantly.

"You are free to leave, if you feel no pain that is. You are not required to stay." She said with a simple nod.

I made to stand, but was interrupted.

"There is something you may wish to hear," Poppy spoke, gaining my attention. "We have found a potion that will assist you in gaining your memory."

I gasped, my eyes snapping up to meet hers. "You what?" I asked in disbelief.

"We have found the potion. But you must know, it will not give them back right away. They will come in dreams, as memories. Slowly, they will come back to you, not all at once. Do you wish to take it?"

"Yes." I answered almost immediately.

"I thought you would say that. Exactly the reason I had Professor Slughorn brew up the potion." She smiled, "I'll be right back with the potion."

A smile spread across my face, "this is great, I'll be able to remember," I could help but feel a large swelling of joy in my chest.

"They won't be back right away," Ozzy repeated.

"I know," I smiled, "but I still get them back."

Poppy returned, bringing more people with her. "I have the potion, I'll just leave this with you." Poppy then went back to her office.

"Are you okay?! I was so scared!" Lily hurried to my side.

"You had me terrified! I walked into our room and saw you throwing fire, are you okay? What happened?" Alice showed her concern.

"Will you be ready for the next game?" Marlene questioned.

I laughed, gaining odd looks from the girls. "I'm fine, thank you. I was just a bit angry about not being able to remember. I'm sorry about our room." I frowned at the thought of our destroyed room.

"It's fine," Marlene patted my arm. "The house elves fixed it all up. It's as good as new."

I opened my mouth to comment but was interrupted.

"How come they get to see her but we don't!" A loud voice demanded.

"We deserve to know what happened," Someone justified.

"We're her friends also!" Someone else yelled.

"What's going on?" I asked the girls.

Lily rolled her eyes. "It's Potter and Black."

"I will not stand for you to disrupt my patient!" Poppy spoke over their complaints.

"Poppy," I called out to her. "Who's at the door?"

"Mr. Potter, Black, Lupin, and Pettigrew." She pulled the curtain back enough for me to see them. "Would you like them to visit?"

"Yes, that's fine." I nodded.

Poppy turned to glare at the boys, "no yelling." She told them firmly. She spun on her heels and left for her office, her cloak flapping after her.

Once her office door closed the boys hurried forward. "Bex! How are you?" Remus questioned, his eyes searching me for injuries.

"Just fine, Remus, thank you." I gave him a reassuring smile.

"Then what happened?!" James exclaimed.

"We don't know anything! Prewett runs down into the common room demanding McGonagall, then your friend Ozzy comes rushing in! Next thing we know you're being carried down the stairs and we aren't allowed near you!" Sirius explained, his hands raking through his hair. He had started pacing back and forth in front of the end of my bed. Pushing Peter out of the way.

"Will you calm down," I rolled my eyes at the worried group. "I'm perfectly fine. It was just a little problem."

"Little problem?!" Alice exclaimed. "You were throwing fire all around our room!"

"Throwing fire!" Remus chocked out.

"I was scared to death!" Alice continued, tears had begun to well up in her eyes.

"We all were," Lily frowned, tears also gathering in her eyes.

"That's it!" Poppy came charging to our section. "Out! You're going to stress my patient!" She shoved them out, pushing James and Sirius who seemed to be fighting back. Lily helped Alice out, slowly walking out, not looking back, most likely so I wouldn't see the tears. Marlene and Remus walked out together glancing back at me over their shoulder.

"Hey! Why does he get to stay?!" James pointed to Andrew over Poppy's shoulder.

"I have orders from Headmaster Dumbledore," Poppy shoved him once more, succeeding in pushing him out of the door.

The door slammed closed with a loud thump. There was pounding on the door, the boys demanding to be let back in, before it went silent.

"Now I feel bad, I've gotten them kicked out." I frowned at Andrew.

"It's fine, once you take your potion you can leave and find them." Ozzy assured.

I grinned, looking over at the potion on my bedside table. With a deep breath I picked it up and brought it close enough to smell.

I gagged, the horrid smell meeting my nose. The deep purple potion smelt like nothing I have ever had the pleasure of smelling, it smelt sour.

I pulled a face, bringing the potion closer to my mouth. I consumed the liquid in one gulp. I chocked, gasping for air. With help I was able to sit up, still sputtering.

"That was the most disgusting thing ever!" I said between deep breaths. I made to stand, nudging Sebastian off of my lap ,and throwing the covers off of me. When my feet hit the ground I gasped, doubling over in pain.

"Bex!" I heard someone yell.

My head throbbed, my skull felt as if it would split open. For a second, the smallest fraction of a second, everything came back to me. I was surrounded by the thoughts and memories I had forgotten. Then, just as quickly as they appeared, they slipped from my grasp, leaving me as empty as I was before.

The pain subsided, leaving me gasping for air and pushing away hands that were steadying me.

"I'm fine," I stood slowly.

"What was that?" Andrew asked.

"The potion." I answered simply.
