Christen's POV
Game day. I thought as I dragged myself out of bed.I got my bag and headed to school where the bus was to take us to our first game.
I parked in the lot and everyone looked at me.
"Dude! Is that your car!" Sara yelled.
"Dude! Yes!" I called back, getting a laugh from everyone.
"Good morning sunshine." I said to Nat as I embraced her.
"Good morning to you too." Nat chuckled.
"Loading the busses!" Coach called so we rushed into the bus and sat down, me naturally being next to Nat.
"What do you think of the other team?" I asked.
"I mean they're fast but not that technical. I think we have a way around them. Coach hasn't announced the starting eleven yet." Nat said.
"Mm yeah. Good point. We might want to get some more technical players out there. We need to win this for our season opener. Start the season off well." I nodded.
"I mean if we have you on the team, we're gonna win. For sure." Nat nudged me.
"Ditto." I smirked and Nat laughed.
"I don't even know why we're going on a bus. Their school is like fifteen minutes away." Nat chuckled.
"True that. But, makes us look good."
"Anything for the win huh?"
"Of course."
With that, we sat in silence and I listened to music.
"We're here." I shook Nat awake.
"Why is it so god damn early?" Nat mumbled.
"Wow cap, gotta be a good example am I right?" I teased.
"Right. I mean 'Why is it so gosh darn early?' Sorry about my language." Nat retorted.
"All right children!" Hannah said and basically pushed us off the bus.
I looked around and saw all of the banners and people here. A lot of our classmates and friends came to see this game and they had signs and banners up. They were chanting and each time they were getting louder and louder.
"Wow." Nat said.
"Indeed." I nodded.
"You didn't just say that." Hannah looked at me disapprovingly.
"What if I just did?" I challenged.
"You sound like so formal." Hannah tried to explain. Nat snorted form beside me.
We all took our seats and I was well, surrounded by seniors, and that would be the understatement of the year.
"All right. This team is quick but they tire out fast. Defend and keep the ball away from them in the first twenty minutes. Switch points of attack to spread out their defense and tire them out. They're not scared of tackling so be careful, I don't want anyone being hurt here. Also, have fun. Experience this to the fullest. Soccer isn't all work. It's fun and that's why you do it. I believe in you guys and you should too." Coach finished. We cheered and clapped but, we were all waiting for one thing. Starting lineups.
"All right starters are, Nat as captain. We want Randel in goal. Hansen, Williams, Hardell, Ferguson in the back line. Chris up top, and Ghandler, Mars, and Sara in holding. Nat and Hannah are the forwards. Cara, you'll be subbed in for Williams, and Daren, you'll be subbed in for Mars. That is our starting line up." We clapped and headed out for warmups.
