* John’s POV *

“Xander!” I yelled his name the moment I stepped foot inside the bookstore. He was talking to Ella, his assistant, perhaps discussing over their inventories. “You’re right about Xavier.”

He looked at me with a surprised expression, confused as to what I was ranting about. Ella was the same. “Slade Conners is Xavier Wells.”

He gave me a questioning look as he was lost for words. We were right that day when we all thought he was Xavier, but Bailey covered up for him. Everyone covered up for him, which only meant that he had brainwashed all of them, having a split personality.

It wasn’t the same as Bailey and Faith. They had amnesia, although, up until now I have no idea what happened to Faith. I guess I wasn’t that interested in knowing how she got amnesia. Sometimes, I think that it’s too good to be true that the same twins have that kind of sickness. Amnesia happens rarely to people.

Could that been a trick?

Knowing Xavier’s persona, it wouldn’t be impossible. He could have worked with Faith, asking her to pretend all this time. And she could have agreed to all of it, which I now realized that Faith shouldn’t be trusted. I should be more careful around her.

“How did you find out?” Xander broke my thoughts as I looked at him confused.

It took me a whole minute before I spoke up again. “Through my dream.” And of course, he laughed at me.

“John, it isn’t the time to joke around.” Xander commented as I saw Ella chuckling, while backing out of our serious conversation.

“I’m not joking. My dreams are real, Xander!” I trailed off, hoping he’d hear me out and see where I’m going. I could see the other customers of the shop noticing my panicked voice as Xander was trying to calm me down and drag me into his office while I continued on explaining everything, not even stopping for punctuation marks or anything.

It actually felt like people thought I was crazy. To be honest, I think I would have to agree with them, knowing how I have been acting just the day after Bailey’s rejection. If you think I have moved on from her that easy, you’re all wrong.

Her words stung in my mind like a broken record.

“Remember that time I dreamed about Bailey getting kidnapped? Look what happened. I lost her because I picked the other and I definitely regretted it.” I gave an example though I knew it wasn’t enough proof.

Though I have no idea if he would believe what I’m going to say next, it’s worth a try. “And just yesterday, I dreamed about meeting Bailey at the building, and she was there. Then she introduced me to a guy she’s with in my dream. That guy looked exactly like Slade, but Bailey said his name was Xavier. He was there too.”

He had a blank expression on his face; I just couldn’t read what he was thinking right now. He raised his eyebrows, but hasn’t said a word, which only means he still wasn’t convinced.

“You can even ask Lenny, he was there too.” I tried giving him enough reasons to believe me, and when I mentioned Lenny’s name, he knew I was serious. I already have gotten his attention successfully, knowing there was another person who has witnessed the events yesterday.

“Bailey remembers me, Xander.” I uttered, sincerely as Xander’s eyes were wide open. “She remembered everything.”

So those were the magic words.

“What happened? Are you two okay now?” He asked with concern. He was one of those guys who were waiting for this day with me. Sadly, it didn’t end well.
