The next morning the alarm clock went off, waking me from my sleep. When I opened my eyes the memories of last night replayed in my mind. The feeling of someone watching me, seeing someone at the foot of Bella's bed. It replayed in a quick flash.
"Time to get up." Bella said to me.
I pushed myself into a sitting position at the end of the bed and then got to my feet. I turned around and glanced at the clock only to see there was thirty minutes before we had to leave for school.
"Shit! Shit!" I shouted as I ran across the room and into the hall.
"What's wrong?" Bella called from the bathroom as she began running the shower.
"The time, I don't have enough time!" I shouted back, taking the stairs two at a time.
On the third step from the bottom I stepped the wrong way and twisted my ankle. I let out a shriek of pain as I tumbled to the floor on the landing.
Tears swelled up in my eyes as a searing pain filled my ankle. I curled up into a fetal position, holding my ankle as it continued to hurt.
Great... This was a perfect start to my day. Not only did I forget that my sister didn't get up as early as I did, so I didn't have enough time to get ready. But I messed up my ankle, who knows how bad.
Would I be able to wear my heels with my ankle feeling like this?
I pushed myself up off the floor, making sure to keep the weight off my injured ankle, and limped down the hall to my bedroom.
I looked at my clock and saw I now had 25 minutes to get ready for school. I wasn't going to have enough time to get ready and I wasn't going to go to school looking like this. I had two choices, I could either be late or call in sick.
I hobbled over to my bed and climb up before I laid down. I would call in sick later or have Bella take a note for me. It felt like I had barely closed my eyes when my sister came into my room and shook me awake.
"Sophia, you need to get up, we are going to be late for school." She said to me.
I yawned. "I'm not going to school today so you are on your own."
"What, why not?"
I moved my ankle, causing pain to shoot through it again. "Ouch!" I winced, tears glisting my eyes. "I can't go to school, I messed up my ankle as I came down the stairs. I can't move it."
"Do you want me to take you to the doctors?"
I shook my head. "Nope.... no doctors needed."
Bella lifted the blanket from my ankle and her hand went straight to her mouth. "You need to get that looked at."
I didn't want to look at it but it had to be bad from the look on my sisters face.
"Just get me some ice and I will be fine."
"If you don't go to the doctors right now I will call someone." Bella warned, she crossed her arms and stared down at me.
I swatted her away. "Bella, just go to school." She didn't budge. "Get the hell out of here Bella, damn! Just leave!" I snapped, my voice rising.
Her eyes widened before she turned and left my room.
I let out a breath of relief when I heard my car start and drive away. There was no way in hell she was going to get me into the hospital. Not liking hospitals was one of the few things we had in common. But there was a difference for our reasoning behind it.
Bella was afraid of blood and needles, I wasn't.
A year before we moved to Forks I was at a two day part with my best friend. The second night she had drank so much that passed out. While she was unconscious she started shaking. I knew right away that something wasn't right and took her to the hospital.
