Milo lay on his bed thinking. Should he break up with Issie? Or was all this just plain stupidity? Then he started thinking about Grace. She was so pretty and funny and she was one of those girls who weren’t all games and plotting. But she was with Alex and Milo was kind of with Issie. He should just forget about Grace, she probably just thought about him as a friend. Like maybe not deep in the friend zone though. Hopefully. No not hopefully, Milo told himself angrily. Grace was with Alex who was his best friend. Who was supposed to be his best friend, he corrected himself Alex hadn’t been exactly talkative lately but then again neither had Grace. Maybe they were both mad at him.

“Milo” a voice called from the kitchen.

Milo hadn’t even heard someone come in but he was pretty deep in thought.

“Here” Milo shouted as he got up from his bed and strolled into the kitchen casually.

“Oh hey Alex” he smiled as he saw his friend, staring out the window.

“Am what exactly happened with you and Grace?” Alex asked angrily.

“Ah I have no idea what you’re talking about could you possibly be a bit more specific?” Milo replied.

“Oh okay specific. My girlfriend was normal. She liked to talk and joke and could actually listen to what you were saying. Then your party and then the morning after she visits you and now she can’t concentrate or anything” Alex replied, his eyes bulging.

Milo looked at his friend with calmness on his face but just a trace of worry in his voice “Look me and Grace were just talking, maybe something else happened that could be the reason for her change in personality”

I sense he might not be telling the truth.

JJ looked at his watch, quite obviously.

“Yes I know I know I’m taking ages but just wait” Penelope complained, sick of JJ using some not so subtle hints to suggest that she was taking too long.

“So what is the plan?” JJ asked smoothly, his confidence not failing him even though it was an awkward conversation.

Penelope zipped up her dress and turned around, tilting her head at JJ.

“Your bow needs to be straightened” she observed

“Here let me do it”. Penelope leaned over and JJ averted his eyes, willing himself not to pull her closer and kiss her.

He was so over Elizabeth and now all he could think of was Penelope even though she thought of him as a trusted confidant and someone who she would have no romantic feelings towards ever. Her smooth straight red hair fell against his face as she was redoing his bow. He closed his eyes and tried to think of things that would take his mind off of Penelope. Brooklyn, Williamsburg, poorness, dirt, disease he thought in an endless looped before she straightened up.

“God I’ve been looking forward to going to this restaurant for ages. It got really good reviews and there was loads of reservations. How did you even get us in?” Penelope asked excitedly.

“Let’s just say the Bass name carries a certain amount of privileges” Henry replied smirking.

“Amazing” Penelope linked her arm in his and they left her apartment and slid into the limo, which had been waiting for quite some time.

“Tonight is going to be so fun” Penelope squealed.

JJ sat on his hands and looked out the window “You’re telling me”
