Vivian's P.O.V

I woke up the next day to Baxter, Grandma's 3 year old rottweiler, jumping on the bed and licking my face.

"Baxterrr," I draw out his name and try to turn my head away from his doggy kisses. He whines but keeps licking me. For a guard dog he sure was letting his guard down. Haha, see what I did there...no, just me okay.

I roll over and sit up on the edge of the bed. My legs dangling over the side. I stretch and reach down to pick up the shirt that I had discarded last night from the heat. I slipped it on before standing up.

"Grandma," I call out. No response.
"She's probably at work," I say to no one in particular.

"Well... come on Baxter I'm going to get something to eat and then.. I'll take you for a walk," I say and he instantly gets riled up at my words. I laugh.

I clambered over to my suitcase on the opposite side of the room. I picked out an outfit quickly and got dressed, before making my way downstairs. Baxter following at my heels.

As I reach the kitchen I see a piece of paper on the table. I look at it, to find that it's a note from Grandma.

'My dearest Grandaughter,
I am sorry to say that I've been called into work today. I was really hoping to spend time with you on your first day here, but sadly my dear, my boss has other plans. If you want something for breakfast you can have the cookies I made you, or I have left $20. You can go to a store and get a snack I suppose, but be careful.
Love Grandma

Well at least she left a note. I turn to the refrigerator where I can see the two $10 bills pinned to it with a magnet. As much as I love Grandmas cookies, I wasn't in the mood for them right now. I grab the money and put it in my back pocket, making sure that it wouldn't fall out.

"Baxter!" I call out, which wasn't really necessary seeing as he was alreadly right next to me.

"Go get your leash boy," I say and he quickly runs over while barking. I giggle. Someone's excited. Within minutes he's back.

I take the leash, which was now covered in slobber might I add, from his mouth and clip it onto his collar. I wipe the rest of the slobber on a rag that's sitting on the counter.

"Alright, you ready," I say to him and he yips and barks playfully. I'll take that as a yes.

I start walking towards the door and he obediently walks by my side. As I reach the door I grab the keys from the hung up key holder and slowly open the door. My eyes adjusting to the sunlight.

I walk out Baxter following me and I turn to close the door and lock it. I put the key lanyard on my neck.

"Alright let's go," I say and we start walking. As I try to remember what stores there are, the only one that comes to mind is the one where the boys were at... Vincent's I believe it was called. I walk silently and look at the neighborhood. The houses were all beautiful and pretty looking. They weren't big but they weren't small either. They were just right and they all fit together well.

It was quite a hot day already, yet it was only about 10. I looked down at Baxter he was happily walking along, but yet he looked dead serious as if he was going to pounce on whoever came to close. I guess he's protective.

After about 5 more minutes of walking we finally reach the drug store that I saw yesterday.

"Okay boy, you gotta be good," I say as I tie Baxters leash to a pole that's outside the store. I nod at him and he sits down calmly. Good boy.
