(Tigress' POV)
It's been two months since the outbreak happened and the dead came back to eat the flesh of the living, luckily we haven't lost anyone to those things. It's been pretty difficult to stay in one place for too long but it's something that we have overcome together every night we take turns on watch and make sure to keep our fires low. There was one night though that is stuck in my mind forever, the night I could do nothing for a small family.
*flashback 2 weeks ago*
We were walking through the forest, had been for days since the cars ran out of gas a few days ago on us. It was fine though we were just looking for a safe enough spot to set up our camp since it was gonna be dark in a few hours. Eventually, after hours of walking, we came across a small group of survivors, to say I was a little surprised would be an understatement, in the group was a family of about four. There was a father, mother, and two daughters. The man held his gun pointed at us as we emerged from the bushes, to which we all put our hands up except my son.
It took us an hour to convince the family that we weren't going to harm them and that we were just passing through to find a safe-ish place to set up camp for the night. After explaining everything to them they were still cautious.
"If you want you can set up camp here tonight but only tonight when the sun rises you best be on your way." The man told us.
"Thank you, sir, that is very kind of you," Trinity said politely to the man.
"Yes like my sister said thank you, sir, we appreciate it a lot." Trigger added kindly.
I only nodded in agreement as I was still pretty wary of these people myself. None of us actually set up tents, we just laid out a few sleeping bags a little ways away from the family so we all had our privacy more or less. I had decided since I wouldn't sleep very well anyway to just stay up and keep watch while the others slept. After a few hours of everyone sleeping I heard it a vehicle approaching a knot started forming in my stomach something wasn't right, I got up and started shaking my group awake telling them to be quiet and grab our stuff. I started heading towards the family to wake them up when it came into view and I froze on the spot and ducked down, there were men in this truck with guns and lots of them. I wanted to help the family so bad but I would get my only family and my friends killed if I did and I couldn't risk losing my son or my group, I silently prayed that these men were just looking for a place to rest but I very much doubted that was the case.
I watched as they roughly woke the family up and quickly tied the father up, I knew what these men were going to do but there was nothing I could do without risking everyone I cared and lived for. I watched as these monsters had their way with those little girls and their mother, silently praying that their souls would be watched over by the gods or whatever deity was there. It finally came to an end and the monsters killed them while the father watched and then they disposed of him as well, tears were rolling down my face silently as I slowly snuck away to my group and we left.
*end flashback*
I had made a vow that night to find those evil men and dispose of them for what they had done. We were traveling yet again but this time in a van that we had found with a pretty much full tank of gas, Zeke was driving with Gabreial in the passenger seat. We had been traveling for a few days now in this van and we had plenty of gas in gas cans in the very back in-case we got low, we had found them buried in the back of a gas station we had raided for supplies. All of us knew that we had to go hunting in the next day or so but we were trying to ration out what we had, we would feed Darwin before any of us so that he ate his fill after all he needed it more than us.
"Tigress, Earth to Tigress," Frost said snapping his fingers in front of my face.
I glared at him "Keep snapping those fingers in my face and I will break them, Frost." I growled at him.
He backed away slightly with a smirk on his face "Now there is the fierce Tigress that I know and love," he said and then laughed a little "we're making a pit stop, Zeke says that he wants to go hunting and get at least a little more meat to be on the safe side."
I nodded and silently got out of the van so as not to wake Darwin "Alright who all is going with him then?" I asked as I leaned against the door.
"I think he said something about my little sister, I'm not really sure though, to be honest," he told me.
"You know he has a crush on Sam right, Frost?" I asked looking at the group deciding who would go hunting.
"That's kind of funny because she likes him too." he laughed out and smiled.
I smiled as well and looked at him "Maybe we should set them up." I said and then started laughing.
"Tigress, what are you laughing at?" Zeke called over at me.
"Just thought of something funny is all," I told him trying to hold in what I really wanted to say.
"Uh huh sure you did," Sam said not believing a word I said.
I smiled innocently at them "Zeke and Sam come here please." I politely commanded.
They walked over to me wary of what I might be up to *oh well I'm only helping them move their relationship along.* I thought to myself. Once they were next to me I put my arms around their shoulders. "Consider me your fairy godmother in this dead world. Samantha, Zeke has had a crush on you for two years now. Zeke, Sam has had a crush on you for the same amount of time if not longer. So both of you express your feelings to each other because tomorrow we might all be dead." I spoke the truth to both of them and patted their shoulders "Now someone go and get hunting so that we can get back on the road and find somewhere for the night."
After ten minutes of discussing we decided that Zeke, Frost, and TeAnna would go hunting. After they had left Trigger stayed by the van while the rest of us raided the few cars that were around us and the few buildings. I had seen Trigger get into the van from the building I was in and close the door quietly, I looked at the road and noticed a huge group of walkers coming up the road and quickly found the others and made them hide. I grabbed a hold of two of my knives and jumped inside an open truck and quietly shut the door, ducking down.
(Zeke's POV)
*I can't believe Tigress just announced to Sam that I had a crush on her, what was she thinking? Well at least she likes me too.* I thought to myself while surveying my surroundings and looking for anything to hunt that's when I saw it a few rabbits just sitting in the grass. I quickly motioned to Frost and TeAnna pointing them out as we all drew our bows back and released within seconds of each other. Each of us had hit our targets but the rest took off, that was fine three rabbits was pretty good but I'm sure we would need a bit more meat.
We hunted for another good hour or two catching a few squirrels and a couple of birds we decided to head back. As we got closer to the road we heard the moans of walkers and it sounded like there were more than a few. Quietly we snuck to the border of the trees and watched as a huge group of walkers slowly made their way through, I looked around for everyone and saw some in various places under cars or with dead bodies on them. I looked at Frost and TeAnna and motioned for us to climb up the trees to stay safe until the dead were gone, they nodded in agreement and we all climbed up to wait it out.
It took about twenty minutes before all the walkers were gone and we all came out of hiding, the only problem was when Tigress came out of hiding she wasn't alone nor did she look happy. A man held a knife to her throat as they came out of a blue Dodge truck, Tigress was clenching and unclenching her fists an old signal all of us came up with a long time ago. She was telling one of us to take a shot and at the very least wound the man, I think she would care if we killed him then, we all glared at the man as he was making demands.
"Give me all the food you have and yo..." he started to say but was cut short when an arrow went through his skull making him release Tigress and his dead body to fall to the ground.
"Well, I'm ready to head out anyone else agree?" Tigress asked in a calm voice.
"Yeah." we all said in agreement.
I sat in the back with Sam skinning the dead animals while Tigress drove further down the road, everyone was fairly quiet as we continued on.
