. chapter eleven
The nation's capital was, of course, quite beautiful. Although, August's mind was on anything but the scenery.
Her thoughts were focused on her faded hands. On the plane ride, the odd fading continued its journey up August's arms, stopping for now right below her elbows. She had to wear a sweater so her arms wouldn't attract the attention of her friends onboard the jet. Mainly, though, she was just worried about Charles finding out about her condition.
When she visited the future, August never heard of herself. Her future self was nonexistent, and she was beginning to understand why.
President Nixon was introduced, but the four mutants paid no mind to his speech, as they waited for Charles to find Raven's location.
August kicked up the dirt beneath her feet, feeling antsy but with nothing to do. She was nervous about the upcoming events, she knows what's going to happen, and no one is ready for it.
"Raven!"
The sudden shout made August jump, but it was only Charles, stopping Raven from pulling her weapon out. Logan runs over to a security man, which must be Raven. However, everything kind of stopped as the Sentinels were activated.
"Charles," August dragged, tugging on his shirt and looking up into the sky. They looked up, finding Erik levitating above everyone, with the RFK baseball stadium around him. August could feel her heartbeat in every part of her body.
As the stadium began to drop, August snapped out of her daze, and being the one closest to Charles, she pushed him out of the way of the large concrete column that was hurtling down to them.
The concrete never landed on her, which she was grateful for, but the large iron bars that were embedded inside the column had her pinned to the ground.
"August!"
Charles struggled to see her, for the column surrounding her blocked her from his line of sight. He knew that she was alive though, and that made him feel slightly better.
It was only beginning. The pain would never end for Charles, from this point forward.
This is short, but I want to make more chapters because the end is coming soon. You all will hate me for what I have planned...
