Chapter 23

[Harry’s POV]

We all hopped into Liam’s car and drove away from the rendezvous point in search of Niall and Zayn

Well that was a week ago.

Flashback Time!

We pulled up at the beach in the blistering heat and hopped out of the car.

“Okay boys, I tracked Niall to this area so he should be around here somewhere,” Liam stated as he shielded his eyes a bit from the sun.

“Liam, you sure?” I asked hesitantly as we trudged in the sand.

“Well, we don’t have a lot of options,” Liam said half-heartedly. He walked a little bit ahead of Louis and me, but I didn’t mind. I looked over at Louis and he looked horrible. His feelings of discomfort and worry were plastered all over his face as he frantically looked along the beach for his best friend.

“Louis-” I began in hopes of cheering him up, but I was cut off.

“ZAYN!” Louis screamed as he ran off to the side and went down a sand dune. He hopped over a construction barrier and kept running for a car sitting idly in the distance.

Liam trudged over next to me as we watched Louis for a moment sprint off into the distance.

“You think that’s them?” He asked softly.

“Well, it’s no harm in looking I suppose,” I said in return.

We walked across the beach in silence. We didn’t run to catch up to Louis, because I believed that if he had located Zayn and Niall, he’d want a private moment with Zayn. However this wasn’t the case. When we had caught up to Louis, the sight before us was horrendous.

The car had broken windows and around the area were droplets of blood. There was an obvious struggle here, but that wasn’t what had caught my attention. Rather it was Louis himself. He was kneeling on the ground and his entire body was racking from the silent sobs that were coming out.

I kneeled next to Louis and noticed that he was clutching something close to his chest.

“Louis?” I asked softly. I honestly didn’t have a question to ask, but he didn’t even look at me. He just continued to let tears stream down his face as he rocked back and forth with the foreign object clutched to his chest. I held him close to me and felt his tears soak my shirt. I didn’t complain, but I was concerned. I just wanted to know why Louis was crying.

Liam got down on one knee next to us and placed a hand on Louis’ shoulder.

“What is it Louis? The thing in your hand?” Liam asked calmly. This is one of the reasons I can admire Liam. He was always so calm and sympathetic towards other no matter what.

Louis sniffled and unclenched the object from his chest; a pair of glasses that had been shattered from an unknown force. But these weren’t just any glasses because they looked so familiar.

“Zayn,” I mumbled under my breath. Apparently just his name made Louis go into hysterics. Louis had the glasses back to his chest and his face smothered into my shirt. He was broken. I had never guessed Louis to be like this. I sat there and placed my cheek on the top of his head. I hushed him and rubbed his back.

Liam, on the other hand, stood up and was now inspecting the car. He had been silent while Louis was breaking down. Liam, well he just seemed like he had just seen a ghost.
