That night I felt down. My eyes were swollen and my mouth seemed bitter. I couldn't believe he'd done this to me. Keisha joined me in my room.
"Sha, you might be angry with me but we need to talk."
"I'm not angry with you."
"Okay girl, tell me something."
I looked at her.
"After what happened, do you think Josh loves you?"
I shook my head no.
"Good. Thank goodness you've finally admitted it. I know you knew it a long time ago but you chose to believe otherwise."
I felt tears roll down my cheeks again.
"Josh is– He is a bastard!" I sniffed, "A wicked bastard!"
Keisha hugged me, clearly relieved with what I'd just said.
"I told you. You deserve better. You'll find someone soon."
I looked at her.
"I don't want to."
"What?"
"My heart got broken this night. And I'm hurt. I don't ever want to experience the same thing. Never again! Falling for someone who doesn't share your feelings."
Keisha was quiet for a while.
"You can't remain single all your life."
"Trust me. It's easy. Please, I... I need sleep, Kee."
"But–"
"Please."
After a quiet while, Keisha left me alone.
I still loved that idiot but I promised to eradicate those feelings. I'd had enough. I hated him at the same time. It was time to take my own decisions.

My days from then were cold. I deleted Josh's number so I wouldn't be tempted to call him. I hated my weaknesses. I wish I was as emotionally strong as Keisha. She hardly got affected by her relationships.
I was more quiet and didn't bother to have fun or go out after my classes. Keisha did her best to cheer me up but it was hard. That week wasn't a good one for me.
*
On Thursday, that same week, I didn't have a class but Keisha did. I stayed alone at the apartment. And all of a sudden, I remembered Shane. He hadn't called since but anyway, I wasn't in the mood.
As if knowing I was thinking of him, I received a call from him. I picked it up.
"Hello, Shane."
"Hi Shayenne . What's wrong? You don't sound well."
"Um, nothing. Personal issues."
"What? Is it josh?" he asked.
"Yes, but I don't wanna talk about him if you don't mind."
"I do mind."
"Shane, please. I want to forget it. Plus I can't tell you anything through the phone."
"Then I'll come to you."
I frowned a little in surprise.
"Wh– what?"
"Yeah. You seem to need someone to talk to."
"I have Keisha."
"You're not still convincing me, honey. You need to speak to someone of the opposite sex, in my opinion."
He was somewhat right. I had questions to ask that only another man could answer. Why were they so heartless? Why did they treat women like objects? But, I couldn't. It Was my private life.
"I'm sorry Shane, but it's personal."
I heard him sigh heavily.
"Okay. I guess I'll have to understand."
"Thank you."
"It's alright. I have some document to get from TUOIFA. This night. I'll take the opportunity to see you."
"Um, no you can't."
"I'm not asking you. I'm just telling you."
Oh, that reply took my by surprise. He was straightforward.
"I'll be tired, Shane."
"You'll be fine. Catch you later." he hung up before I could reply.
Shane had that type of courage that intimidated me.
*Alright, Sir Shane. Your thoughts? Please vote.*
