he was twelve
twelve and a half
half of his life already gone

little did he know
that soon a choice would be made
whether to live or die

twelve and a half he had his first thought
and it ate away at every little piece
it scared him a bit

tore him apart
bit by bit
and then he was gone.

she was fourteen
fourteen pounds lighter
lighter than a feather

little did she know
that soon she would be withered away
a small fragment of her former self

fourteen years she wanted to be skinny
so skinny that she ended with disorders
she felt consumed

her insides slowly failed
and the color in her eyes faded
and she blew away.

i was sixteen
sixteen and wise
wise enough to voice my thoughts

but when i started to speak
it scared many people away
because i told the truth

the truth about what we feel
with all the cuts and bruises
with every skipped meal

little did i know
that my words would ring true
with so many broken others

sixteen and broken
just wanting to be free
wanting to be happy

so now i'm here
sitting and just
thinking out loud.
