You had trust issues. You grew up, raised by HYDRA and destined to be one of the best assassins this world had ever seen. When you were assigned to assassinate Nick Fury, you took the job thinking you were helping the world get rid of scum that prevent HYDRA from dominating the world. Agent Barton was ordered to kill you by Fury, but he made a different call. He explained to you how HYDRA was the enemy; the true nature of HYDRA. He felt you could relate to him being as though, he was also a very skilled assassin with no powers, unlike any of the people on the Avengers team. You slowly detoxed yourself from HYDRA and whole heatedly, gave your life to S.H.I.E.L.D.
You and Steve have been close friends for 4 and a half years now. When he joined S.H.I.E.L.D., You were the first person Nick introduced Steve to - due to both of your knowledge on HYDRA - and you hit it off right away. You loved how he wasn't like the typical guy that would flirt with a girl, make her feel inferior or less of a woman like the ones who worked at S.H.I.E.L.D. He respected you as much as you respected him and that was a lot to ask for in this business. Steve gained your respect and admiration quickly, unlike Agent Barton and Nick Fury.
You slowly began to trust Steve, which was a scary, big deal for you. You usually never allow yourself to get close to anyone because you always had a fear of losing them. It was different with Steve; he always made you think he would never dishonor you or betray your newly found trust, which only made you even more scared. Fury noticed your trust in Steve and would set you two up on missions together. You two made the best team and would get the job done in a matter of seconds. Your fear grew during a mission in which you two were tracking down a HYDRA facility.
During the mission, Steve had punched the computer screen due to his anger towards the Scientist. The scientist went on to say that the building would self destruct and it had gone into Lock down. Your first reaction was to find a way out while Steve's first reaction was to protect you. He had opened the trap door on the floor and quickly had you jump in. He jumped in as well and protected you with his shield while the building crumpled on top of you two. You passed out from the impact.
Steve carried you out of the rubble and into the Quinjet that was sent to save you two. When you woke up, Steve was sitting next to your hospital bed, writing a few things down in his little notebook. You had questioned him as to why he was so protective of you and that's when he confessed his feelings for you. You were a bit shocked because as long as you knew him, he would just reject every date that was given to him. You later found out that he reject them all because he has always had feelings for you.
After his confession, You two slowly became an item. You would go out on dates, or should we say missions, and you made such a great team. You allowed yourself to let you walls down in hopes that he wouldn't hurt you in the end.

Brock Rumlow had explained a mission given to you and Steve by Nick Fury. You were on the Quinjet, on your way to the launch ship in which hostages were being held, but what Steve didn't know was that your mission was a tad different from his. "Secure channel seven," Steve stated.
