It had been two months since Steve had last seen you. After a year of dating and fighting crime alongside the Avengers together, you had gotten into a huge fight. It started with you being jealous of Sharon and him being jealous of Bucky, moved to you revealing how you felt he put his job before you and escalated to the 'I never loved you's,' and the 'I hate you's." You had turned in your resignation letter to Nick Fury and never looked back. You had no intentions of being an Avenger while Steve was still involved.
A few days after you let yourself cry and lounge around your new apartment, you picked yourself up and rejoined the world of superhuman's...as a villain. After you felt the Avengers turn on you after you resigned, you befriended a sweet, caring and deadly assassin named Floyd Lawton. His friendship with you opened your eyes to see that Villains aren't as horribly bad as people make them out to be. The Chitauri and HYDRA were one thing, but Floyd was just a normal guy who was trying to provide for his daughter; he wasn't a villain in his own mind.
You began to hang out a lot in Gotham and spending time with Floyd enough to where he introduced you to his daughter. You never could understand your feelings towards Floyd; you didn't know if you loved him as a best friend or something more so you just played it safe and kept your relationship platonic.
Your choice of not complicating your friendship with Floyd was a choice well made because you found yourself infatuated with a certain psychotic serial killer called The Joker. You were surprised to have a crush on someone that was the complete opposite of Steve but you guess it was easier to fall for a guy you know is going to hurt you instead of a man who promises not to, only to stab you in the back in the end. You fell for the Joker so hard that you changed your appearance. While you were in the Avengers, you wore a suit similar to Black Widows but your torso was revealed. You wore blue skin-tight bottoms with red knee high boots. Your top was long sleeve and was blue with a silver star on your breast. Most of Captain America's fans would call you Lady America in hopes of your relationship lasting forever.
In order to throw away that chapter of your life, you changed your appearance. You walked around with black, knee high boots. You wore booty shorts, one side was blue and the other was pink. You wore a shirt that had red sleeves and the front said "Daddy's Little Monster." You dyed your hair a very bleach blonde and put it in piggy tails. One of them, you died blue and the other you dyed pink. You completely detoxed Steve out of your system...or did you?

Meanwhile, Steve felt miserable. Once Nick announced that you had resigned from being an Avenger, he felt guilty and hurt. He would throw himself into mission after mission so he wouldn't have time to think of you. When it came to your's and Steve's annual date night, he would find himself on the couch, in his cold and empty apartment watching your favorite movie and drinking. He hated how the Super Soldier Serum interfered with his ability to get drunk because it made it that much harder for him to forget you.
